Just had a play to see what is possible. It seems that the only way to get sound from the iPad out the car speakers is via the headphone/AUX socket.

Has anyone managed to get it working over Bluetooth, wifi or USB?

The kids like to be the resident DJ in the back and occasionally watch the odd film. Aux with USB for power is fine, but one of the other options would be neater.

Connect/pair upto 5? devices in the MMI via Bluetooth

However use ONLY the device you want to use through the speakers as the SOURCE (select that one) in Media

That wil play that device over the speakers if it`s available everytime automatically until the “Source” changed again..

We do this for spotify netflix on the kids iPads etc.

    Hope it helps.. 👍

Thanks Satyp. Spot on. Once I had it on Bluetooth, I just needed to change the Audio Source in Connection Manager like you suggested. Works a treat!

Also discovered whilst I was poking around that I can use the In-car SIM as a phone source. When I tried without the mobile and without configuring Connection Manager, it said "no phone".

Starting to get to know my way around the MMI now but still a lot more to learn.

Got the cheap Rear Seat Entertainment pack installed! (Ł24.99 - Amazon)

Can mount most tablets but pics are of my old iPad 2. Rear DJ or playing films works well through car speakers and using wifi hotspot.

With the iPad and mounting bracket removed, it's not too intrusive.

Just worth a mention, we bought a seagate wireless WiFi hard drive a while ago. It's brilliant. You can fit a shed load of movies on there far more than an Ipad can store and the ipad has an app to play them. So we put it in the car or take it on a plane restaurant anywhere. It has its own battery that lasts 1 movie but we keep it plugged into the cars plug. The unit can play to multiple devices simultaneously so our older son can watch captain america and our daughter can watch Disney from the same hard drive.

Being mild OCD I have all the dvd cover art in the library looks great.

Where did you get the wireless drive? And what is it called? Sounds like something I should invest in.
