    Hi guys

RE: BCA Auction - Buyers Fees

Planning on going down in person to bid on an Audi a3...... confused with the buyers fees?

The buyers fees seem to be extortionate and was wondering if anyone was able to bag a bargain?

Has anyone bought a car from BCA and what are your thoughts and experience? Any tips on bringing the buyers fees down?

    Thanks
    Cameron

    Hi
Bought a 3 year old car from Scottish motor auctions several years ago, did plenty research and studied the stock lists regularly to see what was coming up. I ended up with a tidy ex motability car ( albeit a ford focus - first and last time) but found that i was bidding mostly against traders with accounts in the price / age area i was looking in and the buyers fees and indemnity do stack up. On reflection, I probably paid in total around what a private sale would have cost, as a one off punter I probably wouldn't buy a reasonably new higher spec car again at auction. Private sales where you can take more time and give the car a more thorough inspection would be the way to go if you're looking for a bargain IMO.
Don't forget as well - everything is for sale for a reason, maybe more so at auction.
Good luck if you do stick your hand in the air !!

I bought a May 2013 Mk7 122 TSI with 12k on the clock for £9.2k. Buyers fee was an extra £600 but that's not just commission. I guess dealers pay a lower fee. The extra services BCA offer like engineers' reports are a great improvement on the old days. But IMHO the chances of getting a real bargain, for quality in demand cars is less. If you want a gas guzzling old banger you can get a bargain, maybe. It's all in the T+Cs. I spent weeks looking for the right colour and type.
