Hi everyone! Two weeks ago I replace in Audi garage timing belt and water pump. When I picked up car on second day I noticed higher fuel consumption and also that engine is warking little louder and harder. I thought that it needs to settle down, but after two week nothing happened like this. MPG for my daily travel was up to 50MPG and now is around 45MPG. When I filled fuel tank to top on board computer was showing 670 miles and now is 625! I call today Audi garage to tell them what I'v seen and service girl talk to Service Manager. When she came back she said that everything was done correct and nothing else to be done! I was little in shock! I read on internet that torsion value should be check as well but when I asked them before timing belt change technician said that don't do this! Service Manager will call me back tomorrow talk to me! Any suggestions what should I tell him?
Be honest in Vauxhall Garage ( when I had Insignia and Astra before Audi) was better interesting with problems! Here! We'v done repair and nothing else!!

Sounds like they've just used the locking pins, checking torsion values before and after changing the belt then fine tuning if needed would be done in an ideal world but you'd have to pay extra for that. Service manager will likely argue that the job was done by the book and your mpg indication is subjective based on driving etc.
I doubt you'll get anywhere for free with them, you can try or if you still want it checking look for local vcds forum members or VAG indy specialist.

Just a different idea about your symptoms: What is your engine's code? Maybe you became the part of the VW emission scandal recall in silent, and your engine software was replaced "for free" as mandatory factory recall.

As far as I was able to figure out from the news, the "VW solution" will act like this, it will give you a higher fuel consumption, less power and as a bonus, a noisier engine.

Note: I don't know, that the engine control replacement can cause these problems. However, IMHO, if you will impeach them, then it will worth a try to ask for this possibility too.

coming from the north of Scotland, there are plenty of good mechanics, Audi garage or not.

You have to give the garage a chance to look at it.

My engine need software update! I'v got already two letters from Audi UK but they said that they will inform me. Two weeks ago when I left my car for timing belt replacement technician told me that they don#t have any informations yet, so I think I have to find indy specialist!I just talk to manager and he doesn#t know what ##torsion value## stay for!! I think there is nothing like this in Audi work instructions! But he said that to adjust crankshaft position will cost a lot of money. Bumper of and on again! He said, he will talk to technicians and will be back to me.

I am not saying that there is no good garages or mechanics but in my town there are a few but they don't have basic equipment and knowledge to do it! If you know somebody who has good knowledge about Audi I will be very grateful!!
