2005 Audi A6 2.4 V6

Looking into a 2005 Audi A6 2.4. I was wondering if anyone here owns (or has owned) a car like that and could tell me about something which might be useful to check on before buying.

They were very rare as only available (in the UK) for 12 months following the introduction of the C6 4F and then superseded by the 2.7 & 3.0. Don't remember seeing any owners posting on this forum. Perhaps try the 'search function with '2.4' as search parameter?

As far as I know it is C5 engine technology (much of which was bulletproof), but still think you may be better advised going for an 07 plate 2.7 or 3.0.

The 2.4 was petrol and it was around in 2006, but very few were ever sold so Audi just dropped it, only other petrol engines then sold was the 3.2 & 4.2 (A bit off topic I know)

In answer to your question, your going to get very little response on the engine side of things, but you don't say if the cars is saloon or Avant.

I have the 2.4 with manual box. Very quiet and smooth. A good cruiser but acceleration is nothing to write home about.

If you do lots of miles a diesel is a better bet - I don't, and I did'nt want all the issues that a diesel can throw at you.

Timing chain - is it noisy? Be wary of anything that has had longlife servicing - personally I would'nt buy a car that has been on a long life programme. Usually the chain stretches due to lack of oil changes.

Hi, I owned a C5 2.4 and liked very much, so I brought a C6 2.4. both of them were multitronic and very reliable and quiet. I did over 130,00 in both of them with no troubles at all.......
