    Morning All

Has anybody installed aftermarket illuminated door sills? I've been having a look at them over the past few days, some of them look really nice and also quite OEM. I noticed these particular ones on AliExpress, the description says you just have to connect the wires to negative and positive footwell lights. Any ideas whether it would be that straight forward?

I had a pair for the old C6 but the wiring was a bit of a pain as it was way too short and I just did not feel comfortable with the quality of the wire they provide.
Maybe things have changed but in my case, even connected to a 12v battery meant the wire was heating up

If it has changed, I would not mind trying it again because they do have a nice look to them - it was not in your face bright light but subtle

Where did you wire yours into? Do you have to drill any holes to feed the wires through anywhere?

I only did the one side (Drivers) and went straight up to the fuses on the drivers side wedging the cable in-between the seals.
It's how I did my dashcam so was not too much of an issue
There was a slot in the plastics where the sills go where the wire tucked inside nicely so again no drilling, just stuck it down with some pads that were included in mine

I suppose if the cable was long enough, you'd almost want it to be linked to the interior lights rather than always on

No probs but do read up/test etc properly. Mine was a much earlier release so don't go on what I had :- )
I didn't have luck with them due to the heat nor with the led front lights into the fog grill again because of the cheap cable they had which heated up too much for my liking

Back in my Corsa boy-racer days, I had a similar cable melt which is why I had been extra-cautious

    They actually look quite nice.
I was thinking about something like this as my wife's merc has these and they look really nice in the dark with the mb badge lighting up.

i'm still waiting for delivery of my A6 so I'm not 100% sure of what they will look like. Would somebody be so kind as to upload a picture of what a Black Edition / S line looks like with the standard sills?

Ok just giving this some thought and wondered whether anybody could answer the following please.

As far as I can see, the sills come with just two wires attached two them, positive and negative. Am I right in thinking that I could tap them wires into the wires for the footwell lights on the drivers and passenger footwell? I'm assuming that the wires running to the footwell lights are just a positive and negative wire? If that will do the trick the final question is, do the footwell lights illuminate as soon as the door is opened or do they illuminate when the ignition is switched on?

My footwell lights come on when I open the door not sure if this is different to others as I have the lighting pack.
My worry would be its on all the time when the headlights are on so I would be worried about it burning out the light bulbs or over heating the wires.
