Does the front bumper have to be removed in order to replace the drivers headlight ?

if it does have to be removed can anyone point me in the right direction to a link / post on how to remove it ?

i've looked on this forum and looked on Google but can't find any info on how to do it.

    Many Thanks

I believe its relatively straight forward. You need to get acccess to the bolts which hold the bumper on. To do this, you need to undo the screws that hold the plastic cowling arround the wheel arches. Putting the steering on to full lock helps the access when doing this. Once the bumper bolts are out, it should be a case of drawing the bumper forward - if you have headlight washers, you will need to disconnect the tubing (a strong clamp will help compress the line and save you loosing the wash).
I have never attempted this but have researched it on line. I would think it would help if two people were involved in taking the bumper off and re-fitting.

I a sure there is a right up on this on the Audi sport forum A6 section where an owner changed the Grill on his A6.

Its the 2 stupidly placed bolts holding the bumper to the wing that are a pain the a$$ to access and remove. If its your first time removing them you will need to look good and hard to find them. 10mm bolt.

Also need to remove the bolts under the car holding the front undertray to the car and remove the top panel and remove the 2 torx screws holding the bumper in at the top section

    Hi Morski,
i notice you have done the RS6 grill conversion - that was the reason I had researched the bumper removal myself. What year is your Bi TDI and did you have to make any mods to the new grill? I read somewhere that you have to remove some extra mounting points on the RS6 grill. Is that correct? My car is 2016. What part no was your grill?
thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Mine is 2012. I fitted a genuine audi grille and fitted perfectly. I dont recall removing any tabs from the grille. I think its only the facelift ones that are slightly different and need some tabs removing. Dont have the part number to hand sorry.
