This is quite an off-topic and weird question, but I think that cars can be unlucky.

The only reason I'm saying this is because in 6 months of owning my A6, my passenger-side window had been smashed (idiots tried to break in, failed) and my mirror nearly flew off when a seemingly young driver in a rental van was not aware of his surroundings.

That can happen to a lot of people, but it's just that nothing like that has happened to me before, especially on a brand new car.

I've had a 520d for 5 years, not one problem (maybe a few scratches here and there), and so what I'm thinking is, can a car be unlucky? Sorry for my stupid superstition, I've never had an Audi since now.

Picked up my brand new Misano Red A6 Saloon in July, after three weeks and 600 miles it was rear ended in my hometown by a Nissan Micra and was written off, another 3 month wait for another factory build was a kick in the nuts. First accident I've had in 10 years and 26 cars down the line.

Wow, I thought I was unlucky.

Well, good luck usually follows bad luck, hope you haven't had any other problems? I just think the A6 attracts too much attention because it looks so vivid and eye-catching.

And 26 cars down the line? Wow, you certainly like to buy cars! Or maybe I misunderstood...

P.S. Did the you get the factory build exactly the same, or did it come in a different spec?

    Certainly can be -
First A6 I got (C6) was a complete lemon and out of 9 months of ownership, I only had it for 3 weeks. I was put into loaner after loaner until I got into a Q7 and ended up buying it from them. 9 months later, Audi wrote the car off having been sent to Germany to attempt a fix. I sold the Q7 and the A6 was refunded in full... The next A6 was perfect

Fast forward 8 years to October 2015 and I get another A6 FL 2015...in 3 months, I had it for less than a month with it being in the dealership for rattles. 2 weeks ago, it got refunded as it could not be fixed and I got another A6 which touchwood is perfect.

Wow, bad luck again? I don't think Audi's are the most lucky of cars...

Lemon cars are probably my worst nightmare, and because of it, I don't buy used cars more than 2 years old.

And also, what kind of rattles do you mean? Even though mine has a mind of its own using the Start/Stop, I didn't experience any mechanical problems.

But at least you got one which has made you happy, finally.

From now, I am way too paranoid about everywhere I park and how I drive the car around young drivers, have you developed that kind of feeling?

The C6 had rattles/creaks from the steering area. Over 9 months, it had a new steering wheel, steering rack, replacement speedo and eventually an entire dash replaced. It carried on and was very vocal.
Last years C7 also had rattles and creaks. The first one within 24 hours of buying it was apparently the crossbar which was too tight. Once I got it back, the door panels vibrated after about 10mins of driving. The drivers seat also creaked and something in the boot too which they initially blamed a insecure jack but once tightened, it remained

C6 had only 400 miles on it, the C7 was on 8000 by the time it went back for replacement.

In my case, I too do not get older than a year and generally get it on HP until the first year is complete before paying it off...just find there is a bit more help from VWFS and Audi UK this way despite paying a year of interest - unless I am very happy with it.

The FL A6 attracts a lot more attention than the Pre FL used to, it is a very pretty car as it stands at the minute - Audi have out done themselves on this one. But yes 26! Soon to be 27, with an S7 landing very soon!! Excited much - nothing more tantalising than a sunday blast on the A roads!

& yes it was built to the same spec, i actually modified it to add one more option to the car so I had top view camera - worth every penny. Both A6's have since been non problematic for me; i had a 2013 A6 which had stop-start issues from day 1, spent a lot of time with Audi - stop start in the FL A6's is too sensitive for my liking on the Auto's

@Akash, I've never had to have a car refunded! Sounds like I've been lucky

Yes, that is true, every time I see an FL, I stare at it the same way a predator does to a prey, even though I'm sitting in another one the whole time...

Hah, I thought a 3.0 A7 would be way too crazy, but an S7... Wow. But I'm probably too paranoid to weave around the A roads.

I didn't know you could actually get a top-view camera on an A6... So many surprising secrets XD. And yes, I quite hate the Auto stop/start, has a mind of its own! Engine too cold, won't work. Temperature outside too cold, won't work, can't it just turn off or on?

Agree! Save a ton more taking out Audi finance initially, in the region of thousands usually! I try and pay off the rest of the car within the first 14 days usually so there is no interest charges, they rack up quickly

Yes, just because it is German, does not always point out that it will never break or have a malfunction, or that it won't be pricey to replace... But since I have it brand new, I hope that nothing decides to fail on me.

And I perfectly agree with you on the topic of not even thinking of buying a car more than 1 years old, way too risky in my opinion.
