    Hi guys,

    2015 mk7 Golf Hatchback 1.6 TDI

Spent a while under the engine bay and struggle to find the oil filter, totally baffled

It doesn't seem to appear to be in the same place as the mk6 golf 1.6 tdi

really would appreciate a steer in the right direction

Times like this, you could kill for a haynes manual. Don't know whats taking them soo long to produce a manual for the mk7 Golfs

    Thanks

Are you not getting it done at the dealers or garage that can stamp the book to keep your warranty ?

You'll see it if you remove the bottom engine compartment ( noise insulation ) cover.

To remove it you need to disconnect connector from return flow-pump.

Then unclip the alternator cable from its clip & swing it out of the way

Yes, plan is to do an in between service. When the service light turns on, will still have it serviced by VW.

Just can't see any benefits of leaving the old oil in for 20k/2years. Thats why i'm planning on doing oil changes myself at every 6k to increase its longevity

For the love of god, all i can say is my 1.6 tdi mk7 doesn't have an oil filter, i know that can't be right, you are probably right.... all i say is, if it does exist on my car, VW have certainly done a damn good job of hiding it........

Spent absolutes ages under the bonnet in the cold and still unable to trace the oil filter..... damn VW

Would be forever grateful if anyone could help me, by showing me a diagram or even a video on youtube of the oil filter location....... i've scanned most of the videos on youtube of the 1.6 tdi and none of them look like my engine. Most of the 1.6 TDi on youtube seem to look the same as the mk6 golf and NOT MK7

    Many Thanks in advance

    Cameron

Before adding anymore oil after changing the filter and putting in the new oil I'd run the car run for a few minutes to circulate.
Then I would check the oil level again after leaving the engine off for five minutes (car on a level surface of course) before doing a level recheck.
I wouldn't add any further oil at all until I'd done that..
