    Hi folks

I bought my daughter a 2006 Polo 1.4 16v Auto with a dodgy engine with 97k on it, anyway it turned out to be low compression so a used replacement was sourced and old one removed only to find the BKY engine sent is for a manual which is different to the BKY Auto engine (Thanks VW) anyhoo I cant send it back so am stuck with it till I sell it.

So I was thinking of rebuilding the existing engine but cannot find spec/tolerances anywhere
    Can anyone help?
I got a bore gauge on the bores and they seem Within a reasonable amount of the original but I cant find any info on what specs are acceptable

Plan is to hone out the bore and fit new rings and oil pump, altho I did read something that Crasher put up that these engines are allready a bit sloppy on the cylinder specs so maybe a rebore and + size pistons maybe in order

    Any info or help appreciated

    What is different on it?

Thought all you would have to do is change the clutch etc on the manual to the original torque convertor to the new engine...

    Different Block castings

Starter mounts on rear on the Auto and at the front on the Manual and the Block castings allow for that

Oh yea I see what you mean now, just had a look on Google.

    Typical vw lol

Is it possible to change over the bell housings??

The other thing is, if you type in Google " transmission conversion plate" you may be able to source or have it made so the auto tranny will just bolt on to the new manual block.

Might be worth a research aye...
