Hi I have bee looking all over to see if there is an update to my MMI but don't seam to be getting anywhere, I think I have a 3GPlus MMI with the following version

    Media version: HN+_DAB_K0097

Nav. database version: 8R0060884AH ECE 5.13.8

are there any update to this MMI? if so what should I be looking for? would this be covered under warranty ? (none of the AMI lightening cables I have will work with iPhone 6s Plus comes up not supported)

That's very old software. The latest versions are

    • MMI firmware K900. (Full name HN+R_EU_AU_3GPEU900, part number 8R0906961EA)
    • Navigation database ECE 6.20.4 (Part number 8R0060884CH)

Updates can be done by the dealer. They're chargeable and not covered under warranty. If buying an approved used car I would negotiate the updates into the price.

Ah thanks, shame I have already purchased the car, I suppose I will have to contact the local dealer and see how much it will be to update the mmi then. Wanted new maps too I'll know for the next car lol

I am using the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus on mine through AMI with a genuine 20cm long Apple 30-pin to Lightning adapter. It works perfectly. So if you have the old AMI cable it will work fine with the genuine adapter cable.

Bath Audi charged me £199 inc-VAT for the pair of them. Of that the Maps were the significant majority of the cost.

If your wanting the MMI update is to "fix a problem" with the Bluetooth or iPod, then the dealer should do it free of charge if you're still in warranty. Bath Audi upgraded mine to K770 for free back in warranty eighteen months ago to "fix a problem". But if you're out of warranty or just want the new version for the sake of being new, then expect to pay.

Thanks for the reply, I'm in warranty, but apparently none of the garages in manchester do MMI firmware upgrades, well that what I'm being told on the phone, so not got a price or anywhere that will do the firmware update as yet. any suggestions on what problems where I could get the firmware updated under warranty ?

    Thanks

If the car is in warranty, you can usually get a free firmware update if it fixes a known problem with your current software. I got mine done because "I can't connect my iPhone and use a SIM card for data at the same time" - something that was fixed in MMI v770 (and I only had 560).

Obviously you don't ask for a firmware update outright, you state the problem and hope the dealer comes to the correct conclusion. In my case, the feature wasn't in my firmware so the only option was to update it.

Ah Thanks for the information, I have ordered a data sim for the car and if it won't connect to my iPhone at the same time I will defiantly need to get the update, I will wait untill the sim arrives and then approach my local Audi

    Thanks again
