Apologies for what should be a really easy thing to find on the internet but I'm struggling

I have a 2011 A6 3l Quattro that is currently being serviced by an independent garage. They've called to say the recommendation is to refer back to Audi to get the ATS fluid changed. Not got a problem with this so checked the service schedule and spotted the Haldex oil should have been changed at 38,000 miles. Again, not got a problem with that, but here is where it gets weird.

I just stopped off at the local VW garage (as they serviced my VW for the last 5 years), explained what I was after and they basically said "we won't touch it". Slightly surprised so went next door to Audi who have quoted to get both jobs done. Not saying they are un-trustworthy, but the kids behind the counters (and I'm guessing late teens - 20) just read from a screen and didn't inspire confidence. I checked Wikipedia and it suggests my car might not use Haldex as the 4WD system Quattro (four-wheel-drive system) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia So I have a question for you all.

Does the current A6 quattro actually have Haldex as the 4WD system?

    It's not haldex, it's torsen.

If it's s-tronic your gear oil and filter need changed every 38k.

Yes Torsen... you do not mention if it is a C6 or C7 (and 2011 was the 'changeover' year) - or current mileage.

S-tronic will be the C7 quattro box - 7 speed dual clutch.

If it's C6 then it is likely the ZF 6 speed 'conventional' auto (i.e torque converter rather than dual clutch as in the S-tronic 'robotic' auto).

The ZF boxes are supposedly "sealed for life" with no oil change required. However, there are lots of discussions about them benefiting from an oil change every 60k miles or so. I know that my C6 3.0 Tdi quattro box was getting a bit 'lumpy' on some changes so I got the oil changed by my local audi dealer around 68k if I recall and it transformed it back to as it was when new.

a bit more detail from me would have been useful . . .

Yes it's a C7, with the 7 speed auto box. Chassis decode shows the following:

    PRCode: 0G7 = Tiptronic

I picked the car up having done 33k and have put it in for service as the Service Indicator came on (at 47k). It's only through reading the service guide I spotted the transmission 4WD needs checking.

0G7 means you have the flappy paddles fitted, not necessarily tiptronic gearbox, 7 speed auto is S-Tronic.

If it is a C7 quattro then it is not the ZF 8 speed 'tiptronic' torque converter box - it is too early a car. The ZF 8 speed is only fitted to the BiTdi and that was 2012 onwards I think.

All other 3.0 TDi quattros (and I think in 2011 there was only the 245 PS) are S-tronic.
The 204 PS was multitronic and front wheel drive - until the allroad version was released (but that was quattro).

I may be mixed up on details but pretty sure this is right (someone will correct me if not ).

Does it use normal auto box fluid or some some spectacular fluid that only vag sells?
I can remember my mates golf with Haldex and the oil change and filter for that's was a small fortune.

Many thanks for all the responses.
Car passed MOT however I have the brake warning light on the dash. I tend to go genuine parts for the important stuff, and asked the local garage to source genuine Audi front disks and pads. They were being charges £355 by Audi for the same parts I can walk in and buy for £315. Garage has in writing from Audi the pads need a new set of bars / sliders / whatever but Audi say I don't.

Anyway Audi are quoting £399 fully fitted so £44 for fitting and the car gets washed and hoovered.
