VAG COM still saying a problem with the temperature sensor.

I take it that there is only one sensor to go wrong?

I have replaced it twice (one cheep from China and one with the audi logo) and there is no change with either.

80' on the temperature gauge and the radiator fan kicks in, I'm sure this used to occur at 90'.

Any idea when the fan should kick in?

That is just the standard blue with a green ring early square plug design part number 059 919 501, in the water housing on the back of the head. The colour of replacements varies, some are green, some black, some blue.

Hi, no it's located on the bottom of the radiator (AEB petrol engine) number 059919501A
D shape (4 prongs), it was blue, but changed it for green, then another green.

It just occurred to me, does the car have to be run for a while on the road for the on board computer to think and adjust to the new parts?
I remember it had to do this to the new ABS that I fitted a while back.

Then that is why you still have the fault code, you have replaced the wrong sensor.... Service Diagnose Code (SDC) G62 refers to the coolant temperature sensor for the engine and this is a dual unit also incorporating sensor G2 which is for the instruments. The one in the bottom hose is the radiator outlet temperature switch for the fan.

Ah, I'm still a little confused.
The number you have given is the same as the one I replaced, but with an A at the end of it.
    Are the parts the same?

Guess it's time to look at the back of the head.

If you fitted on 059 919 501 A in the lower radiator outlet position, that is also wrong, it should be 8D0 959 481 B which is a dual temperature switch not a dual output NTC sensor. Are you sure this is a 99? What is the cars VIN year letter (eighth from the right) , X or Y?

    Aggghhh!
Yes your right, I just realised what I did wrong. I looked on ebay for a water temp sensor for an a6 seeing the picture of the 059 919 501 A I went looking for the same on the car, doh.
    Now I realise
    059 919 501 A is just an uprated or new version replacement of 059 919 501.

Crasher you have been a gem, thank you so much.
