Could anyone please help with this , after trying to sync my remote (VW Fox 2007) and having not joy my mechanic has tested the fob against some sort of signal tester that flashes when a remote key fob or similar divice is pointed at it , all his other keys he'd had from various other cars light up the tester instead of mine , so I'm thinking the remote fob is not sending a signal hence not working on the car , the red flashing light does flash but not opening or closing doors , we have opened the remote to look at the obvious battery and found it has 2 batteries !! , in the past the wrong or cheap batteries have been a nightmare with remotes and don't last for more than 2 presses of the remote and was told by a good auto electrician and car audio specialist that only the real car battery remote batteries are any good , this was proved when i put cheap ones in my VW LT van remote that didn't work till i got the real deal ones from Hal frauds !! these have been no problem since fitting , Question is should there be 2 batteries in this remote from the fox as there is at the mo ( one sitting on top of the other ) or should it be a thicker gauge one that has been replaced by 2 cheap ones ? and whats the correct number for the battery as I've searched the net and looked in the manual and can't find what the correct number of coin type battery it should be .

Better going to VW and pay for it.

2 batteries on top of each other gives more power, rather than one massive battery, which would be a larger unsightly key fob.

There are indy auto electricians who can code new fobs to your car for a lot cheaper than VW .

You don't say if you tried your spare key, you might want to consider getting a spare remote ................... and your indy may supply 2 for the price of 1

Hi Nial , thanks for reply , the reason i mentioned the two batteries is that it has two 2016s where as you can buy a 2032 which is same thickness as the two 2016s already instaled so thought should it just be one 2032 ? , also the spare i have is not a remote key so can't try that one unfotunatley, looks like trying the vw ********
