    Hello,
I have to drill a hole on my roof for shark fin (aerial). I have 2005 Sedan. I have two questions:

    1. Where is the proper location for shark fin? There is info only for A3/4 - 116mm from the end of the roof to the edge of the shark fin. What is the OEM distance on our cars?

    2. Are they painted the same color as the car from factory?

    Thanks in advance.

Are you installing navigation into the car as the sharks fin is not a radio anntenna its a GPS anntenna.

The radio anntenna is in the rear screen.

I will retrofit the phone and DAB in the future, but now my headliner is out, so I want to do the antenna now.

My GPS antenna is in the rear screen as well.

Can somebody measure the distance between the aerial and the roof end please. I will be really thankful.

The sharkfincan be for both GPS & Telephone.

Personally I would not bother fitting the fin, for navigation the GPS antenna in the rear screen is the best option. For Audi BT/Telephone the Antenna is only required if your retrofitting the phone holder in the arm-rest and most people just fit the basic BT module set so you don't need the sharkfin antenna.

This is the kit I would look to buy if you want BT. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A6-2G-MMI-Bluetooth-/111077609061?hash=item19dcbdce65

Yep no measurements in that link, my post was in the context of EssexGonzo's post .

If I had a Saloon I'd measure it for you, but I'm an Avant owner .

ELSA may have info, not sure, currently no access to it.

Perhaps a Saloon owning forum member can measure it for you, MarkTM has a Saloon with sharkfin, surprised he hasn't posted yet.

Another idea would be to measure a Saloon at a car dealer, if they'll allow you.

As you'd be getting measurements of the base of fin rather than hole, I'd then make a template of fin from the part you have and position it on roof and mark hole.
