Help. I am planning to fit a dash cam to my 09 plate Alhambra but the cigarette lighter is not ignition controlled so it means I have to remember to plug it in each time. I have noticed that the dipping rear view mirror has its power controlled by the ignition. Does anyone know how to remove the interior light assembly in the headlining so that i can hopefully access the wire going to the mirror and use this as a supply to my dashcam. Any help would be appreciated.

Safest way is to fuse it through the fusebox. Running a camera off a feed which provides a mirror may overload the circuit.
