Missing Sat Nav SD card for 2013 A6 SE

Hi, am a newbie here and could do with a little advice; have just blown all my retirement pay off (from BT) to purchase a 2013 Audi A6 2.0 Tdi SE but it is missing the Sat Nav SD card (the cd type pack that it came from shows 'Version 2013 Europa - Navigation (RMC) with a type code of 8x0 919 884E' was in the document pack but no SD card. Now, I have contacted the dealer it was supplied from and he said only way now was to stump up around £250 for a 2015 map & activation code that is a one off to link the car to the card and involved computer link to Germany which after my initial outlay is not possible at the moment.
A mate referred me to Ebay where 2013 cards with the same code (8x0919884E) were between £40-£60 but no code and a warning that I need to check if they are compatible. ..... So firstly, is it possible to confirm that the code shown on the CD pack cover is the one that I would need make it compatible and also would Audi (probably at some cost) be able to provide a new activation code and link it up?
I have seen a log somewhere that even indicated that if the system had already been set up for Sat Nav as this obviously has, then it might not need a code. Any help would be much appreciated.

I guess you did not buy it from an Audi dealer. However regardless of that, because you bought the car from a dealer and presumably at some point he claimed (even if it was just in an advert) the car had Sat Nav it is his responsibility to provide the car with the system working. If he refuses to do this point out his legal obligations and if that still does not get you anywhere then tell him you will be rejecting the car. If you do reject the car then you must write to the dealer advising them of this as soon as possible (recorded delivery) and then arrange to the return the car and all the keys to the dealer as soon as possible after that.

I suspect they will back down well before you have to threaten to return the car as it is highly likely they can source the new SD Card for a lot less than it will cost you and they will still need to deal with the missing SD card before they can sell it to anyone else

Hi Paul.
I bought an A6 2nd hand from the dealer and this was also missing the sd card for the sat nav. Luckily I noticed before accepting the car. Their initial response was that any card from that year would suit but this was incorrect. So they gave me a new card 2015 and had to update the system. It took hours. I was there about half the day. Seeing as I live in Aberdeenshire and the dealer was in Yorkshire I couldn't just leave and pick it up the next day either! I would really try and get the dealer to do something. Get Audi customer services involved.

Hi, I should have mentioned I bought it from a Volkswagon Financial services special auction at Bedford auctions and it stated that the card was missing but without checking properly, I thought, hey how much can an SD card with a few maps on cost?! So unfortunately I have no comebacks in that area but thank you for you extremely swift reply. The dealer I mentioned was the original that supplied it for lease in 2013.

Ok. Agree there is not much you can do in that case. I guess you could either try and source an original 2013 card and hope it will work without any further dealer intervention or bite the bullet and get a new 2015 card and pay the seller to initialise it. Might be worth seeing if you can get a dealer to do you a deal given the circumstances and you might use them for future servicing etc

I've just picked up my July 14 registered SE Ultra from Arnold Clark. It was missing its SD card, the car having been removed by their branch in Glasgow before transferring it to Dumfries and subsequently "went missing". Fortunately I was able to use the 31st August to my advantage by refusing to take delivery until it had an SD card installed. I picked the car up at 5.30pm yesterday (the 31st). No idea if it's the original card or a replacement but the dealer was happy as he had a sale in to bump up the low figures for August and needless to say I was happy too.

Mine was missing when I picked mine up from them. I pointed it out and within 72 hours a brand new one was delivered to my house pre-coded to work with the car.
