Gearbox oil change, approx cost

I have a 2.5 multi tronic box that is slow shifting into first gear
I'm wondering how much a oil and filter change should cost
I got quoted £1000 which seems quite high
What should I be looking for in a Mechanic doing this job?

Audi fixed price is £175 for an auto fluid change. Have you tried Audi for a price?

Preferably a mechanic who won't charge a grand for a job Audi will do for a fifth of that price. I'm in the wrong job!

maybe the quote was actually for oil and filter change , along with a used gearbox, or a free flight to australia, or a night with the guys mrs, i dunno, but something doesn't add up.

just get rid of it mate, its the start of a long process that leads to a caput g/box and shed loads of money , trade it in while it still attempts to move.
