Hi guys, had a fault on my passat b6 (2008 uk model) saying my tyre pressure sensor is faulty.

I've finally bit the bullet and got my VCDS and ran a scan this morning. I was hoping it would be more specific as to which of the wheel speed sensors were at fault so I can order the right one instead of trial and error.

Please note that this model car collects the tyre pressure from the ABS wheel speed sensor and not from a module inside the wheel.

It may even be on the read out but i'm not very familiar with it. Perhaps someone will be able to point out what I missed?

Have you reset the system via the dash button?

If one of your wheel speed sensors was faulty, that would be what the trouble code would say.

    Jim.

Yes Jim, I even went as far as as holding it down for a minute but it did absolutely nothing.

it used to work until 2 years ago (yeah I know, let it slide) then it was on a few weeks before a tyre change and I never reset it then after the tyre change I made sure they were all set the same but it wouldn't reset.

I believe I have the indirect TPMS so no sensors in the wheels themselves but thinking, if there was a fault with the wheel speed sensor then surely the abs light would be on.

Yes, your right. I've had one on a Polo that wouldn't reset because the switch itself was faulty. I'm sure there will be a measured value you can check with VCDS that will let you see if the switch is sending the reset signal to the ECM.

I found a retrofit post last night which was tested by turning on the feature then resetting it via VCDS but then if that was the case perhaps the fault wouldn't be present?

Yeah, I think I've seen that somewhere too, now that you mention it.

Well, you already have the system so you can skip the turn it on bit. Just try the reset via basic settings in the ABS ECM.

Well I managed to find the TPMS controller and do a reset, the fault has cleared, I got the chime and when I pressed the TPMS button too so I guess i'll find out whether it's resolved tomorrow when I go to work.
Finger, toes, eyes, legs and pubes crossed! lol

After managing to find the TPMS module under brakes and doing a reset via VCDS I have managed to clear the fault and all 'appears' to be working fine now.
Going to get my car up on ramps tomorrow and see if I can find the damn earthing problem which is stopping my Parking sensors working.
