    Hi all

I have test driven about 7 A6's recently from 2012 - 2014 plates. To various degrees there is wind noise. In my present 62 plate I use a strip of newpaper and close the door, in most places on all doors it can be pulled out with little force.

If you look at the doors, the rubber seals do not come out a lot compared to the hard surface of the door edges, so the seals do not get squashed when the door closes. In my 2006 2.7 TDi if someone talks close to by driver door I cannot here what the are saying, now I can.

It seems Audi has gone backwards.

    regards

    krish

Wind noise is often cited for the A6 C7, it would appear. The FL cars have double glazing as standard and it is whisper quiet in the cabin - eerily so, in fact. I do wonder if the decision to fit double glazing as standard was because of the frequent complaints about wind noise.

I see that the introduction of acoustic glazing for the windscreen and front windows seems only to apply to the standard saloon and avant and not the Allroad. Does anyone know if that is correct?

    Hi Kris

Must admit I feel the same. We have a 2012 Avant and when I test drove it we didn't really do any big speed. Now after 6 months I must admit for a "prestige" car the wind noise is
a bit poor. Never mind, ride quality makes up for it............oh I forgot to say our last car was a Fiesta ST, I suppose a ride on lawn mower has a better ride quality

    Hi andy
lol fesita!! Big upgrade foe you then. I have had one type for the last 15 years. A6....... The engine noise of this one is the lowest. Sadly the door seals and i think the general weight reduction and CO2 rating have produced a fiesta in sheeps clothing.

    Wind noise reduced.

The door seals are ok, not great, if you try a 1 inch strip of newpaper (8 inches long) and close the door, while there is some grip it does come out quite maybe a force of pulling 200-300 gms of weight.

The glass seals are poor, for one the window goes the outer rubber about 3 to 4 mm. and the inner rubber is providing no force against the inner side of the window glass. I added about 5 layers of insulation tape over the whole upper side sloping down the the front of the door and the side going down to the bottom of the window. This provided enough grip when the window was up and I could not stick a medicine plastic strip as I did
before. While there is wind noise, it is not any more concentrated around the top of the driver door. I think Audi I have to upgrade all its cars with better window beading.
