    Hi gents. Anyone else had a problem with clutch sticking pedal 6speed box? pedal sticking half way, but i have no problems with selecting gears. any help appreciated.

    It's most likely the clutch master cylinder or more to the point the rod that goes from the pedal to the cylinder buddy.

    how do i know which cylinder? master or slave? any way to check it?

    Master, the rod is plastic and breaks where it goes from the pedal to the cylinder, needs a new unit, not too difficult to fit just a bit fiddly

    new master cylinder fitted but the problem still there... now could be slave cylinder, or clutch release bearing or problem with a gearbox???

    Sorry to say this but I have been reading around about this but after people have replaced cylinders and throw out bearings it ends up basically requiring a new engine due to too much crankshaft end play.

    I have a 2004 Altea 1.9TDI with 130K on the clock and the half way down clutch issue has been going on for several weeks getting worse and worse. Often I have to turn off the engine to get it in and out of gear as the clutch seems to be slightly permanently engaged.

    Back in the day I had a MK1 Golf and it just had a manual adjuster surrounding the clutch cable to adjust it!

    Honestly I have not had a quote yet too scared
