    Hi

I have just spent the morning trying (and failing) to fit a Parrot Mk9200 (v3) into my wife's Mk6 Golf GTtdi. It has the standard VW single cd tuner and a 6 disc auto changer in the centre consol.

When I bought the Parrot I was told I needed an SOT 076 adaptor lead, however when its all connected up the Parrot powers up but the radio does not. Have I done something wrong or do I need a different lead due to the auto-changer ?

I have the same Parrot in my Audi but it connects to the auto-changer input.

On this forum I have found that it recommended to pick up and ign feed live from the Climate controls, does anyone know which wire I can tap into

Many thanks in advance for any advice given

    Thanks Ian

Ian, if your radio isn't powering up with the SOT adapter fitted but does when the vehicle loom is plugged directly into it, there must be something wrong with the adapter.
If you plug both of the quadlock connectors on the adapter together, each wire should leave one side and connect back to the same position on the other side, if you follow what I mean. Maybe a wire has been put in the wrong location on one of the connectors.

As for the ignition supply wire, I'd connect it to the cigarette socket. There are only two wires on that and the one you DON'T want is the brown one...easy. There is also plenty of room under the ashtray trim to fit the parrot control box. The ashtray is easy to remove. Select 1st gear then grip the trim at the base of the gearshift gaitor and give it a pull and it should unclip. There are now two exposed torx T20 screws holding the ashtray. Unscrew those and it lifts out.
You won't have to remove the trim from the heater controls, so no chance of switching the ignition on with the passenger airbag warning light removed which would put the airbag warning light on.

    Regards.

    Jim.

    Hi Jim

Thanks for your reply, you were correct when I matched the colours over I spotted two yellow wires did not match up. I have swopped them over and the auto-changer plug and the stereo works correctly

The Parrot appear to work but it does not mute the radio and there's no sound.

The SOT 976 lead had a pink wire hanging around/fallen out that does not appear to have a logical hole to stick it in, so I am tempted to bin it and purchase a new one from a different supplier. Maybe trying a SOT 076. I know this is hit and miss but surely it should be easier than it is

    Thanks Ian

For my wife's Eos (exactly the same as my 07 GTI), I used an Autoleads 06-116B lead. It dealt with all the connections except one - you need a switched live feed as Jim says and make sure you fuse it as close as you can to the point you tap off the cigar lighter (or stuff a spade into a spare outlet in the fuse box). With the lead in place it puts the phone through the speakers, mutes the radio, etc. Note that this was a CK3000 but I can't imagine that Parrot have completely changed all their wiring designations. I juggled with the adaptor a bit and fitted a couple of DIN plugs just to make things an easy plug fit with the Parrot in case I wanted to change things later, but this isn't essential.

Because she has the buttons on the steering wheel, I also included a Parrot MultiCan and it now works with the answer, call, volume, mute buttons and so on. Push the steering wheel button and say "call Teflon" works a treat. I suspect your GTtdi will also have the MFSW, in which case I'd recommend fitting the MultiCan. I've just looked at my photos of my wiring and it's a little bit more complicated but it isn't rocket science. You just need to ScotchLok into the two Canbus cables in the Autolead.

If you want to get really sophisticated, you can fit a CanBus adaptor for the switched live. I would always do this for a retrofit radio, but it's overkill for a Bluetooth kit.

p.s. I can't see what the tag on the pink lead says in my photos, but it is all coiled up and taped off so you I'm pretty certain you don't need it.

p.p.s. Checked again - it says KBus. It doesn't work on a VW, ignore it.

Ian, does the spoken menus or the music player function of the Parrot mute the radio? If it does then the wiring must be OK in which case it must be something to do with the bluetooth connection (or the Parrot box is faulty).

    Hi Flash2
No the spoken menus or the music don't work, the display on the CD player does not change to show phone.
I suspect its a faulty SOT lead or the wrong one.

Do you hear relays clicking inside the Parrot box when you select a menu item or try to make a call?
Do you still get music from the radio when you disconnect the plug from the Parrot box?

I'm thinking that you have the correct SOT adapter because you have music from the radio. There are relays inside the Parrot box that should switch the speakers over from the radio to the phone. It sounds like the relays your Parrot box aren't switching. If the music from your radio cuts out when you disconnect the Parrot box, then that proves that the wiring between the radio and the box is OK.

The display on the radio wont display "PHONE" if the relays in the box don't switch. It's the relays that actually mute the radio, not the mute wire. It should work OK with the mute wire completely disconnected.

    Jim.
