I just took my car in to get some work done it. They asked if they could have the car in overnight which I thought was a little strange but I said fine since I was getting a courtesy car anyway. When I went to sign the paperwork, the advisor asked if I could sign an extra form for the "product recall". I asked what was recalled and he said something about airbags. I don't mean to be sensationalist but it would be nice to know if there was something wrong that would affect safety and, if so, why wasn't I contacted to take the car in instead of waiting until I happened to have the car booked in>

Anyway, I don't know what exactly has been recalled or which models are affected but I will update this thread if I find out more.
    Cheers
    Allan

Yeah , it would be nice for Audi to be upfront about these things especially when we are talking about a safety issue

Apparently there was a glitch in the software:
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/621575-A4-airbag-recall?p=10209242&amp%3Bviewfull=1

Working in the software industry I imagine that this glitch would only be apparent in the minority of cases but still good to get it fixed

When I rang them the other day about security, I was told that my car was up to date but that my car needs a software upgrade for the airbags, but wasn't told that it's urgent or anything! I just thought that it's something and nothing and that'd I'd get it done at the next service. Surely if it's a danger in any way then I'd be notified of a recall straight away?

My A4 booked in for a service next week and they alerted me to this software update but assured me that the car was very safe to continue driving. Go figure.

At Least Audi are doing something about it. As it's not listed on Gov.uk or VOSA, and that Audi are happy for everyone to continue driving, suggests to me that it's not a catastrophic failure but more to do with Audi's internal standards/maintenance protocol.

I've posted on other Topics regarding my employment situation so I won't get into it, I'm fortunate to be back into an audi this weekend after selling my 2013 A6 however, as a result of my employment situation my wife cancelled her new 2014 VW Polo 1.2(85ps) delivery and jumped into a toyota yaris. We never checked VOSA or toyota before purchase. Believe it or not the steering wheel unit fell on her lap whilst driving. It was A common listed problem that was never fixed properly, but reading through the other issues in the VOSA toyota recall list including the dreaded accelerator issue ..I'm pleased to see The Audi A4 is not on any major government list.

We got all of our money back on the Toyota as we complained using the VOSA and Toyota list....never again. Back to German.
