    Hi

We scanned my car with VCDS yesterday, and found error on G31 (g42) sensor .. The map sensor (038 906 051 C)

But where is it located on my car ?? (I am no mecanic)

Here is a picture of my engine (http://www.zmarto.dk/motor.JPG)

Can anyone tell me where to locate it ? and how much to disamble first

    Thanks, have a nice day

Down between front centre of engine and the cooling fan you will find a pipe like this.........

V.W GOLF MATCH 1.6 TDI MK6 (2011) - INTERCOOLER PIPE WITH MAP SENSOR | eBay

with the sensor fitted into it. It's probably better to access it from below.

    Good luck..

What was the trouble code you got? There are known issues with the wiring on those sensors.

If the voltage output from the G42 (temperature sensor) is too high and you have implausible signals from the G31 (pressure sensor), that suggests you have a high resistance on the sensor ground which is common to both sensors.
It could be internal within the sensor, but could also be the wiring. If the fault is there all the time (can't be erased) then you could check the sensor ground with a voltmeter. You need to measure the voltage with the sensor connected, so wont be easy on your engine because of where the sensor is located.

    Welcome to the forum.

    VAG Error Code: 16620
    EOBD II Error Code: P0236

    Fault Location:
Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor (G71) 'A', Turbocharger (TC) Boost Pressure Sensor 'A'/Supercharger (SC) Boost Pressure Sensor 'A' - Range/Performance Problem

    Possible Cause:
    Intake/exhaust leak.
    Hose connection(s).
Turbocharger (TC)/Supercharger (SC) boost pressure sensor.
Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor (G71).

    Possible Solutions:
Difference in boost pressure vs. altitude sensor > 230 hPa or < -130 hPa.

    VAG Error Code: 16497
    EOBD II Error Code: P0113

    Fault Location:
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor (G42) - Signal too High

    Possible Cause:
    Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)(K83) active.

    Fuse(s).
Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Intake Air Temperature Sensor (G42) faulty.
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor (G42).

    Possible Solutions:
    Check/Replace Fuse(s).
Check Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Intake Air Temperature Sensor (G42).
    Check Measuring Value Blocks (MVB).
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor (G42) < -46°C.
Check/Replace Intake Air Temperature Sensor (G42).

    When is the code detected?:
An excessively high voltage from the sensor is sent to Engine Control Module (ECM).

    Description:
The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is built into mass air flow sensor or in some vehicles mounted to the air filter duct housing. The sensor detects intake air temperature and transmits a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The temperature sensing unit uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. Electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases in response to the temperature rise. The Intake Air Temperature signal is used as an input for various systems in the vehicle.

As taken from my EOBD II Error Codes

2010 Golf GTD (170) CBBB, 5 Door, Shadow Blue (P6/D5Q), Flat Tyre Indicator, Basic Protection Pack + VCDS.

    Hi
I have just replaced the sensor (038 906 051 C), and checked for broken wires. (Could not see any problemswith wires, but have not got a tester)
But the fault is still here… Do I need to get it erased with VCDS first ?
Right after I replaced the sensor, the car drove ok again, but only for 2 minuts.
,and the symbol for “Partikel filter” was showing (But It stopped when I gave it a little gas.)
So now same problem: Feels like a car with max 40HP, and Max speed I 5 gear I 100 km/h.
(and still symbol for engine I showing, and symbol for glow plugs warning light is blinking.
When starting the car, it shows “Diesel Partikel Filter – Check owners Manual” / Service Now.
Could It need a cleaing of the partikel filter ? (No errors on that in VCDS)
Any good ideas , before VW dealer has to rip me off

    Have a nice weekend,

Was the DPF warning light on originally or only since you replaced the sensor?

The engine won't develop full power when the ECU is seeing a fault relating to the boost pressure sensor because it can't monitor the operation of the turbo, so power is reduced to protect the engine. (Limited Operational Strategy)
Try erasing the trouble code with VCDS. When the engine is cold, use the measured values to compare intake air temp & engine coolant temp. Both should be about the same. Also compare the boost pressure and the ambient air pressure (with the engine off). Again, if the sensor is working properly, both should be about the same.

Let us know what you find.

    Jim.

    Hi Jim
    Thanks for the fast replay.
Before the replacement of the sensor, it only shows “Diesel Partikel Filter – check Owners manual”/ Service Now “ in the middle of the MFA when starting the engine (No DPF symbol while driving)
(Only Engine symbol showing all the time, and symbol for glow plugs warning Is blinking )
After replacement of the sensor, the DPF showed up in about 2 minutes , together with engine symbol while driving… And when I gave a little bit of gas, the DPF symbol turns off, and status is now:
Engine symbol showing all the time, and symbol for glow plugs warning Is blinking.
Will go to a friend tomorrow, and get the errors deleteted with VCDS..
