    Hi all,

I have a '55 Golf Plus 1.6 FSI and the windscreen washer jets (front and rear) have completely stopped working. When I pull the stick forward to engage the jets I hear the relay click correctly, both for the front and rear jets. I haven't been able to track down which fuse is for this washer jets, it's not listed in the car manual or the haynes manual I own (or I'm failing to find it correctly). Would you expect the relay to click if a fuse had gone? I checked the pipes that I can see without removing any parts (under bonnet etc.) all look OK. Cannot hear the pump activate (no noise coming from it) for front or rear jets.

Suspecting it may be the washer pump itself but wanted to check here to see if anyone else has any ideas. This is a Golf Plus so the fuse panel is different from a normal Golf (it's under the headlight switch on the drivers side) does anyone know which fuse is the washer pump? Unfortunately, to change the washer pump requires the front bumper to be removed (on Golf Plus) according to Haynes, so a cheap part could be a pain to do...

    Thanks,

    K

The washer pump fuse is F29 on the dash fuse panel (15A).
It does say in the manual that you need to remove the bumper to access the washer pump, but that doesn't mean you really have to.
It says the same in the Passat manual too, but I know you can replace the Passat pump by removing the driver side wheel arch liner which is a lot easier than removing the bumper.
I've never had to replace a washer pump on a Golf+, so the manual could be right but I'd be taking a peek behind the wheel arch before I went ahead with pulling the bumper off.

Thank Jim, I removed F29 and the relay stops clicking so definitely the correct fuse (how did you get that info? I rechecked the car manual and Haynes and F29 isn't listed at all!) if you have a list of all the fuses in the Golf Plus can you send it to me please?

I tried via the wheel arch but on the Golf Plus the washer pump faces the front of the car with the washer reservoir directly in front of the drivers wheel arch, so in the way. So I took the front bumper off, which was pretty easy actually and replaced the pump, all in took around an hour including locating all the screws and refitting! I have some photos and plan to write it up, I'll post here when done.

I got the fuse location from the circuit diagram. I was just on another thread and the guy there had trouble trying to find a fuse too. If they told you what the fuses were for you wouldn't need to take your car to the VW dealer for repair. To be fair to VW though, listing all the fuse info would require a separate manual just for that but you'd think they would let you know what fuses covered the wipers, lights & horn, etc.
