    Hi,
Well the first really long run in the A6 on a 2 week holiday in France was slightly marred by our 18mth old, messing about in the car, pulling off the rearview mirror, which then smashed into the MMI 2G screen, cracking the LCD.

Can anyone advise where to source a replacement screen, cost and how much a dealer/specialist will charge for fitting?

Seems official audi dealer cost c.£800 + vat, but some on ebay for about £80!?

Also, need a service and looking for a good local specialist (Peterborough/Stamford area), google throws up Elite Autoworks in Peterborough, or Quattro Tech in St Ives. Any opinions on either, or recommendations?

    Many thanks

A search of the forum will bring up this link, which shows how to remove the display around the MMI

    Replacing MMI Screen

How on earth did an 18 month old manage to get up there to rip your mirror off supervised. Sadly at 18 months and only coming with a 12 month warranty you can't send children of that age back for a replacement!

If buying a 2nd hand screen you may find that the protective anti-glare coating has been scratched off with over jealous cleaning. If so I would suggests removing the remainder of this (I used surgical spirit and then farecla g3 professional scratch remover) BEFORE you refit. Then apply a good quality film antiglare protector (also found using the search function on this forum).

    Good luck!

Thanks Mark, looks a little beyond my means taking that lot apart (Distinctly remember the phone call to the Repair man, after I tried to fix my tumbledryer myself- similar snapping of plastic clips I would imagine)

All I will say re: 18mth old, is that it wasn't on my watch. These things always seem to happen when my wife is "in charge"

Good job wife's paying for it to be fixed then as will teach her the error of her ways! Would she have let her fave pair of shoes get damaged by said child? I think not! Mwahaha!

If only! As the wife is on a 'career break', 'her' money is effectively my money. Balls!

If it's just the LCD that's smashed - you can get one from aliexpress for ~£40...
Shop a6 mmi lcd online - Buy a6 mmi lcd for unbeatable low prices on AliExpress.com
Never bought / fitted myself though so can't vouch.
