    Hi All

I am working on my vehicle with the intention of putting it on the road in July when my old one is truly knackered! The inner and outer CV joints dont look great and the ABS rings are completly rusted and in one case split. I am replacing most of the suspension parts and all of the brakes so while im under there i may aswell sort out CV joints but ive come to the conclusion it may be best to change the whole shaft. Hopefully some one can help me here as i am looking at a sea of driveshafts for sale and getting slightly confused?!?

First question would be: Are the front and rear drive shafts the same on a Quattro?

2nd question: Where can i get the best deal for these quality/price? i was looking at J & R on Ebay (who are fairly local to me) but with a bit of research they have a lot of complaints across the web not necesarily on Ebay and most tell you to avoid at all cost!

3rd question: if its cheaper to changer inner and outer CV joints are these identical front and back?

The only reason im thinking they are identical is because all the sites ive looked at dont specify rear or front?

Many thanks for your help its greatly appreciated.

Ok not many replies but thought i would add my findings anyway. It seems tricky to buy the entire shafts for the rear and there are a few dodgy suppliers out there after doing a fair bit of research. I could hand in the old ones and have them returned with new CV joints for around £80-90 each. I decided in the end to buy the cv joints and attach to my shafts myself costing £90 for 2 x rear inners and 2 x rear outers. I just need to purchase or borrow a vice from someone!
