Earlier versions of the Golf traditionally introduced a 'Match' specification somewhere near mid-life, replacing the SE and adding a lot of extra kit for little extra cost. I've been very pleased with my Mk 6 Match - anyone know or hazard a guess as to when or if a Mk 7 Match will be introduced? Next year would be ideal for me.

That’s £790 of extra kit included, plus some new pattern alloys (although I like the present ones). The article also refers to "a 120bhp turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine with cylinder-deactivation" - I thought the cylinder deactivation was only available on the GT model - have they included this in the lower models as well then?

Nothing showing on the UK VW site as yet.

It's in the new pricelist. Looks like it has the same 122PS 1.4 engine of the S and SE (though I have seen others mention that their tracker has changed to this being a 125PS engine that is EURO6 compliant). No ACT in the pricelist.

Basically it is an SE with different alloys plus for no charge: parking sensors, mirror pack and front fog lights.

H'mm, part of reason I went for GT is the cost difference to SE was only £490 when you spec'd them up to the same levels and for the £490 you got the engine upgrade, Alcantara upholstery, foot well illumination and a few trinkets. Now the difference has grown to £1280 so not such good value. Its unusual for VW to bring out the Match so early in the model life, with the mark 6 the GT's gained leather interior towards the end and I wonder if the GT spec will be upgraded to compensate the Match freebies. Mind you my GT is on for late September delivery, I'd have been really peeved if I had gone for the SE only to find the Match had been released - will any SE deliveries for September be upgraded to Match spec?

Just checked drive the deal and discount rate is 15% for GT and Match so it would appear VW are not reducing the available discount even though the model is better specified. The SE is not listed.

Picked my new Match up yesterday - very pleased, the upgrade over the Mk6, which I loved, is huge. Dealer swapped out the Match wheels, which don't do it any favours, for SE ones.

Thinking the same. The match wheels dont look as good as those on SE. Ordered a match 150 2.0 TDI DSG on PCP - i dont think they would swap wheels?ight deal Due to get mine late this month or earlier next. Dealer matched the ORANGE WHEELS price so an alright deal i guess?
