hi all, clutch started to slip slightly today, if you have had a replacement clutch on a 1.9 diesel passsat what did it cost and who did you get to do it,

would you attempt this your self or get a garage to sort it

i have been looking for quotes to replace the clutch + flywheel

somewhere between £700 & £800 for clutch, flywheel & slave cylinder but that was two or three years ago, a good one man band did it for me but too far north to travel.

Why not have a go yourself if you are fairly handy with mechanics. Parts will probably set you back £350-£400. Not the easiest job but doable.

hi i think thats the best option but i can see that its going to be a pain in the a***

i have rang 3 people who specialise in clutches, prices range from 275 to 400 for just a clutch and 580 to 650 if it needs a flywheel.

it runs really quiet ( for a diesel) so i dont think it needs a flywheel, but who knows.

i was towing when it started to slip so went out today and no slip when not towing, however i need a car to to tow a caravan so i have to get this sorted.

i am thinking at worst, new sachs clutch + flywheel 300 and a few bit and bobs so 350 for the parts

at least i know its got decent parts in it.

    will post again.

my mates advice was - sell it on

Changing the clutch dmf etc on a B6 Passat is fairly simple nuts and bolts job. Time consuming but not difficult at all.
