There is another way.....although not a 100% honest!

    1. You lease the car privately (PCP of whatever is your choice).
    2. Claim mileage every month covering your motoring expenses. I believe that Service costs can be claimed for in full.
    3. Car is paid for and no tax to be (well, other than the usual).

As mentioned above, please do remember that £0.45/mile for the first 10K and £0.25/mile thereafter. If claiming more, you will be liable for tax of the bit between £0.25 and £0.45

Challenge will be whether the leasing company is able to get the ex-Stock car with the discount they want or from one of the dealers they deal with
I've found a car I'm very interested in sat at a dealers, brand new A6 saloon Ultra S Line S-Tronic, Daytona grey, a few extras like heated seats. So, could I approach someone like Tilsun, who are offering this model on a 6+23 lease at £279.99+VAT per month, and ask them to get this vehicle for me on that lease? And in theory, have it delivered / picked up pretty soon. I don't want to phone them and sound like a complete mug, so seeking advice first! That Tilsun lease is far better than what Audi can offer direct.

Just one word of caution regarding Lease vs. PCP....

Excess mileage charges on leases are generally 2-3 times higher than on the equivalent PCP. On an Audi PCP, you will pay 7-11p inc VAT per mile dependant on model/engine. A lease may well charge you 20-30p per mile.

If you are confident of doing no more than 10,000mpa, then obviously nothing to worry about, but if you go over, it will cost substantially more on a lease.

The best way to get prices close to a lease is to make an enquiry via Drive The Deal or a similar broker, who have essentially negotiated the discount for you, or going to a large dealer group Outlet (Inchcape etc) and telling them you want the DTD price.

Accessing this discount makes all the difference on the monthly payments as on a PCP, you effectively fund the depreciation. If you start at a much lower price, the difference between the residual value is much less, therefore meaning often hundreds of punds per month saving over 'typical' dealer quotes.

Not sure I agree - the leasing company I spoke to we're telling about 8.4p/mile Also, you can get a BE a bit cheaper than that*. (Although I wasn't looking at S-Tronic)

    *£1800 + £264/month including VAT

I really, really dislike the 20" wheels and privacy glass, and having test driven an S Line and BE, I didn't find the Bose system to be much of an upgrade. So I'm 100% after an S Line.

Isn't Drive the Deal for PCP only? Or are you saying take that price to a broker, and tell them to source this stock car for me at that price? But then why can't I just use their website listed price (£279.99+VAT)?

Sorry for these questions, I'm obviously completely wet behind the ears with all this. If a broker can offer £279.99+VAT on a 6+23k 10k lease for a factory ordered car, I just can't understand why I can't go to them and say "look this car is sat on a forecourt 30 miles away from you, go and get it for me on this lease and you can start making money off me straight away". I must be missing some link in the chain or something

I agree with you on 20" wheels, sports suspension and privacy glass - would rather have them removed. The only thing I like about S-Line is the colour!!

...but the Bose - really?!! Wow - I must try one without it.

I presume you're familiar with this site: Car leasing | Contract hire | Van leasing which suggests that Tilson aren't necessarily the best deal to be had, although if they have stock, etc, then that's not so relevant ;-)

Well let's forget Tilsun for a second, whoever the broker is isn't really relevant here, I'll just use who's got the best deal and can get what I need. Also it's not about whether they currently show they have access to stock, it's wether if i tell them where they can get the car I want straight away, will they go and get it for me.

I don't think that's how it works. However, I can't quite explain why - it seems that cars are made for a particular purpose and probably there are different chains of distribution - so retail and fleet/leasing channels operate independently in terms of management, finance and stock. I guess that one of the reasons is to deal with exactly your case - if one could get a great lease deal with immediate delivery, "everyone" would do it - and Audi's margins would be eroded.

Doesn't hurt to ask but the issue will be that the leasing company will have negotiated discount rates with specific dealers (like DTD do on the PCP side) and if this dealer is not one of them then they may not be able to get the car at the price they need to support the leasing deal. Cars held by dealers are in effect theirs to do with what they want so any transfer of stock between dealers has to be negotiated often by swapping on an "I've got something you want and you've got something I want" basis. Some are reluctant to do this as they get fixed allocations of cars and do not want to give that up especially on cars where they have been allocated less than they can sell. If the dealer with the car you want does not want to swap it to another dealer and won't give the leasing company the price they need then no deal.

If that's the case then fair enough. When I was looking around they were all really expensive on the Excess charges, that's why I went with a PCP on my A7.

No worries, in fact you should be asking these questions!!!

The main issue is that the Lease Company may well NOT have access to the full dealer stock list. They may get a quota from a dealer and then once that's gone, have to accept a factory order. If they do have access to stock vehicles, they may not have access to the particular one you have found. If so, the Lease Company's supplying dealer may have to negotiate with another dealer to release the vehicle to them before they can get it to you. Not impossible, but not necessarily simple either. I bought my A7 from Stockport Audi, who had to get the car released from Preston Audi who had the right spec in a close build slot, so it is possible.

The other thing to point out is that the price will generally jump up about £10 a month as soon as you add metallic paint and the other options will add even more. The £279 is for a standard spec vehicle, of which there are VERY few around!
