Sell or repair?

My 1.9 tdi highline estate has chucked its water pump...which means new pump cambelt etc. It has also had a leaking head gasket for years - with air pressurising the coolant system but no oil/water contamination. But considered (by me) to be uneconomical to repair especially as car ran fine.
Then just get the pump/cambelt/tensioner/idler replaced and you could be back to the state you were happy with before the pump went.

I would rather rebuild the engine that's in there, I am no fan of second hand engines. better the devil you know plus changing the engine is very invasive and the labour times get silly AND even then you are going to say to yourself "should I fit a new clutch and DMF, what about the cam belt and water pump, should I take the sump of and clean it?" and then after all that, how do you know the new one does not have a leaking head gasket or has been cared for? No, too much risk.
