    Dear all,
I have an AUDI A6 C6 2.0 TDI Multritronic 10/2006. In the last start I observed that the power of battery is too low, also on driving I observed some strange things, on gear box, on power etc.
    (1) is this normal? when a battery has not good power BUT the car started to be the car like this?
    (2) the car has a 95Ah VARTA battery...can I charge it when it is connected to the car? OR I must remove it? I tried to remove it and the alarm activated??
    (3) If i replace the battery with 90Ah or 100 Ah battery has any problem? OR I must find the 95Ah battery?
    (4) if i replace it, may I do anything on the system of car or it will be normal from the first minute?

I appreciated if you can help me in these 4 questions

    thanks a lot

    best regards

    Hi,

OK what are the symptoms you are noticing, how do you know the battery has low power, and what is happening with the gearbox etc?

I would get a full VCDS code scan as this is the best way to know what is going on with all such systems on the car.

If it is your battery, and it's old and failing, rather than not getting charged properly, then personally I would replace like with like, so a 95AH battery.

If you change it for another type, then you will need to re-code the battery manager, so that it can ensure the battery is properly charged.

To charge the existing battery, you must either disconnect it and charge directly on the terminals, or the recommended way is to connect the charger to the + and - posts provided in the engine bay.

Hope this helps but I would be getting a code scan first.

    Andy

thanks for ur reply. how i understand it is that on last start of the car, on ignition i observed that All lights on car switched off (was night) and then back on again. this nefore was not happening. Later on driving was like the car was not normal.

now for the chsrging, if u use the + and - in the front bonnet bay it is sire that there is no any worry to destroy the ecu or somethong? battery must be connected csuse the alarm is activated if u remove it.
    thanks

Charge from the points in the bonnet. I've removed the battery in my A6 and the alarm didn't go off??

You'd be best just buying from Audi.

I assume you're doing this with the doors unlocked? Ie not just opening the boot with the key?

I suggest having another look at the links I posted as they'll help you alot.
