    Hi again.

I have a A6 Le mans TDI. Like all A6's it has the twin exhaust which are curved down.
I have never liked exhausts like these, always been a pet hate. Has anyone on here changed the exhaust tips to straight ones like on the newer A6's?

I haven't looked in to it much yet but I am seriously considering getting some prices. I will take a look under the car tomorrow and see how easy/hard it may be.

    Thanks

I believe (but may be wrong) diesels point down to prevent soot blowing out the back of the car

Especially annoying if someone in white trousers walks passed the back whilst the car is stationary with the engine running

Some people have done but unless you have a DPF they will be covered in soot in no time.

The audi tips are £70 from Audi or around £65 from TPS if you can get then to sell you some.

I dont have a DPF, however I am a little **** with cleaning so I would keep on top of it.
What is the part you need, Is it just exhaust tips from the newer one or from a petrol e.g 4.2?

Is it just a matter of cutting the old one off and welding the new one one?

Also do you need to modify the bumper in anyway?

Depends what you have at the moment - does it have a separate splitter?

Funnily enough I looked at exactly the same thing yesterday - mines a 3.0tdi LeMans 2007 model and I thought it would look much better with straight tailpipes at the back. Looking underneath the car you've got 2 separate back boxes and the existing curved tailpipe is welded - so all you'd need to do is burn/cut the old ones off and then get someone to weld you on a set that are straight.

I don't think you would need to modify the rear bumper if you got the curvature right where you joined it to the backbox pipework. Definitely a job for on a ramp though in my opinion - wouldn't want to attempt it on axle stands!!

I have emailed a couple of garages locally. I know they sell exhaust tips and have an exhaust guy to hand so see what there price comes back at.
If not a guy I know has a garage so I will buy a couple of tips and get them welded on.

Once its done I will post pics for you.
