There is obviously some discrepancy if mine needs done or not. Thanks for the link. How can i tell which cable or DBW my car is? Its a 2006 C6. The website mentions a year 2000 B6 for one of the methods but doesnt mention C6 anywhere. I guess it will be shown when i connect the VCDS.

    Thanks

Best idea to buy replacement unit. It's made by Siemens and available form ECP for £165 (pm me I can help with price). Audi charges £225 last time i checked. It's very common for them to fail.

    New vs old:

    crazy4alfo,

thanks, i got a second hand unit (with 30 day warranty) as i wasnt 100% sure that the throttle body/anti shudder/controller lid - (last one is audis name for it) was to blame as audi had orignally said it could be the intake manifold itself?? I suspect that was to get money.... I fitted the second unit and symptoms persist. If i do need to go down the route of a replacement I will give you a shout.

    Thanks

They have high failure rate. I'd only get new one.

I hope you sort it soon.

    Hi Doc,

Those procedures are for petrol cars, like others are saying the throttle is different function on the diesel engine vs petrol thus not require alignment.

You will see text on that page which read "Obviously, there are some exceptions. This should be obvious but TDI's do not have throttle bodies."

I think the confusion comes from the anti shudder valve being called a throttle on the diesel but you could say does do some throttling of EGR/charge air, all flipping LOL!

Showing my inexperience here....fuse box left of plenum? The only 3 fuse point i have discovered so far are Passenger side of the dash, driver side of the dash and the boot section where the jack etc is located.
Where is the left of plenum chamber electronics box?

I saw that ross-tech wiki also but sadly didnt give the fuse box details but certainly helps narrow it down. I also have not come across external wiring issues.

    Thanks
I didn't know the year of your car..........the fuse info is for A6 from 2007 so I now see it doesn't apply to you.
Not much more I can give in the way of support, as I said it's your call....
Good luck and as crazy4alfa has said don't pay audi prices for a replacement try eurocarparts.

Like c4a5er said EuroCarParts will be cheaper but if you search the online VDO parts catalogue you may find a VDO P/N to google and find another retailer which is cheaper.

Link:- VDO - VDO Replacement Parts Online Catalog

I replaced the anti shudder valve/throttle on my 3.0 TDi and using the VDO P/N found an independent part dealer to be cheaper than all and the best thing was it still had an VAG stamp it was just hidden under a sticker!

Just as a side note VDO/Siemens/Continental is stamped also all over these units as they all became one AFAIK.

Cheapest place to get it would be Car Parts Online, Spare Parts, Motor Spares from CarParts4Less.co.uk

    @Auditron,

I just viewed wiring diagram for Audi A6 2.0 l Turbo-diesel engine (89 kW / 103 kW, 100 kW - 4 cylinder) engine codes BVG, BLB, BNA, BRE, BRF from model year 2005

It shows V157 have 4 pin connector?

    Pin 1 is earth
    Pin 2 is ?
Pin 3 is going to ECU 60 pin harness connection 25 (T60/25)
Pin 4 is going to ECU 60 pin harness connection 60 (T60/25)

Before buying a new V157 I would wanna run a VCDS output test, just like c4a5er suggested.

It would be run with engine off and I would have unit unfitted to engine but electrical connection in to test.
