Hi all, having enjoyed ownership of an A4 Cab in the past, I've just picked up an old 52 plate 2.4 Sport that needs some love but is not too bad for the money. One of the issues I'm having though is the boot lid. Basically I can open the boot using the keyslot, or it will open using the fob; however the soft touch handle on the boot does nothing. I've read a few threads on here regards boot lids causing problems, dodgy solenoids etc, but the fact it operates on the key fob button implies that is ok. I've also noticed some water build up in the boot, plus the boot high level brake light doesn't work and is full of condensation. Any ideas, help gratefully received, thanks

You will need to remove the trim and high level light - it is common for the seal to blow and water to get it

I just bought a replacement unit for £35 from audi (you could try and make new seal)

Easy job to do (don't forget the small screw above the close handle on the inside trim before pulling it off

Once replaced leave every thing for a few days to dry out (..I put my trim and carpet indoors) when all dry and secure check the connectors and stuff on the system

I found on wet days my button would be intermittent but once sealed and dried it has been perfect

You may need a new lock assembly complete with new button if it is not working after drying out

Many thanks for the tips mate, I will try it this weekend. It's a nice car generally, just a few little niggly bits to work out!

mine is now bone dry after fitting the new light and the unlock soft button works every time

.... when I opened it a week or so ago I was horrified when waterfalls poured from both corners of the lid trim into the boot itself.... if I could have been bothered I would have made a new seal for a few pence but I just wanted it done with the bad weather so bit the bullet and bought a new assembly - it is a bit annoying that Audi don't sell the sell as a separate item as this is a common weakness
