When doing an oil change on a PD TDI, what are the views on the subject of flushing the engine before filling with new oil?

Do people use the oil flush additive or a flushing oil, or is it not recommended to use a flushing oil or additive.

    Just wondering

The PD engine uses fully syn oil, that has better detergents than the semy syn/mineral oils. I would not use engine flush, save the money towards a better brand off oil(Castrol EDGE 5w30/0w30) and change the oil and filters more often. That will make a big difference.

    Hi Adamss24

I had found a comment similar to yours in a magazine article and was under the impression that the fully synthetic oils virtually negated the need for the use of a flushing oil. However, I had been charged for engine oil flush when the car was serviced by the dealer during the warranty period. What I was wondering about was the specification of the flushing oil.

    Thanks
