    Quick question,

My 1999 Audi A4 TDi 110 seems to be suffering from loss of power
sluggish between 2k and 3k revs in what appears to be all gears (barring reverse !!)

about three people have suggested that it may be the MAF sensor
someone else has said it maybe the Turbo or pipes to the turbo

and someone else suggests i should get it put on a diagnostics test.

any advice would be most welcome as i don't really want to fork out for a new turbo, and am reluctant to get a test done just to find out its the MAF and hence paying for the MAF and the test.

so i'm in a bit of a dilema.

    many thanks

a recon maf sensor is about 60 quid but there's no avoiding the diagnostic sometimes, new cars have way too much electrickery on them

the difference is incredible, feels like a different car, and the turbo is amazing. many thanks to everyone for the advice. i feel sorry for all the people who have forked out for expensive remedies, when a £45 fix is so easy. instead of replacing the whole unit i just bought the peiburg pro, probe, held in by two screews (allthough tamper proof torks) and then just slides in, amazing difference, wow.

i got it from german and swidish £45 including vat. i havent herd anyone else mention replacing just the probe and not the whole unit, but i presume its just the same part but without the casing. i have heard though that the pierburg sensors are better than the bosch one's. i had a look at both and the pierburg one seemed more solid. the part no. is 7.22684.07.0 but obviosly check is the right one for your car. hope is works as well for you as it did for me, still can't get over what a difference it has made.

I've had my car for a year, and haven't been overly impressed by the power.

I'm just wondering if my MAF has gone, and how would I tell without running a diagnostic.

Someone suggested disconnecting the MAF, how would I do this and how would I know if this was the problem?

    I'm in a 1.9 TDi (110bhp allegedly) 1998 Audi A4. It's nice and red.

Any photos of what a MAF looks like, as I can't find it in haynes.

It was allegedly changed 18 months ago (about 20,000 miles).

    I'd appreciate help here.

    Thanks,

    -AS
