Anyone had this problem before, or know where the issue may be? Reverse lights are on all the time when ignition is on, even when driving forward or when the lights are off completely & sat in neutral.

    Thanks in advance.

After a quick search Paul, it seems a reverse light switch could be at fault and apparently most are on top of the gearbox.

    reverse light switch

I just viewed a thread where Crasher had commented which I closed but I'll try and find again.

Thanks Chris, searched a couple of pages & gave up . Obviously I'm too impatient.

I'll get on with sourcing a new reverse switch.

I think this is it - Reverse Light Switch

Send Steve a PM, I'm sure he would be happy to help with part numbers and placement.

Thanks mate. That gives me an idea of how many hours labour it would be (1 by the sound of it). I'd like to give it a go, but in all honesty, it's probably beyond me. Especially with the limited space in the engine bays in these cars. I've seen the part on carparts4less for £7 after putting in my reg number, so I assume it'd be the right part for my car.

Can anyone confirm or otherwise, whether this is definitely the right reverse light switch for my car? I put in my reg on the site, so I assume it is, but wanted to make sure first. When I put my reg in, it says mine is a 2007, but my car was actually registered September 2006 on a 56 plate, not sure if that makes a difference?

Also, is the switch I need to look for to replace towards the back of the engine bay and slightly left of middle as you're looking from the front of the car, with a nut securing it & a cable coming from it? I would take a picture, but I'm flamin awful at uploading pictures to tbe forum.

As Zol says Paul, try Audi, I'm sure they aren't that dear plus you'll get your parts guarantee should it fail again within 2 years.

Ok, advice heeded & Blackburn Audi can supply for £14.60 + VAT. Not too bad. Annoying that they don't know the manufacturer so I could tell whether the ecp part was oem & that they don't seem to ever hold anything in stock & you have to pay first, then wait two days for delivery. At least I'll get the warranty on the part though.

Do I pay my local indy £20 (half hour labour) to change it though, or do I have a go myself? Not sure yet. Does the location of the switch sound right though does anyone know?

After a brief search, it's on top of the gearbox itself as per Crasher, this seems to be the general area for them tho.
