Just ordered my B8.5 2013 A4 and its penciled in for delivery during November. I haven't specced the technology pack but have AMI (as it's a Black Edition). I am finding it very confusing to get a definitive answer on the ability of the car to stream music from a phone over Bluetooth. So have a few questions if people can help:

    1) BT streaming is not on 2013 A4 by default unless you have 3G MMI and as I don't have the tech pack, I don't have this
    2) I can stream audio using the cable in the glove box as long as the phone is connected to it
    3) Does the cable work with apps like Spotify or Napster?
    4) Can I skip forward or back and does it display track listings on the head unit using the cable connection?
    5) Anyone used this tune2air device which makes a AMI connection Bluetooth? Does it display tracks and allow skipping forward and back?

    Thanks chaps

    My wife has the A4 and our phones work well. I noticed the other day that you can't have bluetooth and the cable connection at the same time! So;
    1) I don't know
    2) Yes as long as the bluetooth is off, it will also stream from bluetooth without the cable connected.
    3) I will try it today if I remember.
    4) Mt music comes up but each track is in a seperate folder so it is annoying. This may be improved if I had playlists. You can skip back and forth with the control wheel and with the volume control.
    5) No

    Hope this helps. Cheers, Scott.

    Thanks Scott. Couple of queries....

So the AMI cable doesn't work unless you turn off the BT on the phone - but then phone calls etc dont work?!!?
BT streaming does work even though you don't have 3G MMI?

    Sorry slightly confused

Hi, I plugged my phone into the cable and tried to stream the music but got a message that Bluetooth and cable are both connected and it doesn't support it. Please switch off one of them. Don't know if the phone will work when connected with cable.
Napster works but you need to switch it on manually - you can't do it through the media button as far as I can see. The cable is very short which is a pain.
the only reason I plug it in is so I can charge it. The Bluetooth streaming works well.

Thanks Scott. Can you just confirm you DON'T have MMI and just the AMI? I thought streaming music via BT was not supported unless you had the Technology Pack, i.e. MMI on a 2013 model. Thanks again!

Ok. I'm in the car and the Napster does play but there is nothing coming up on the screen so no controls available. The car keeps trying to put it back to the iphone player. Pretty sure we don't have MMI. It's a 2013 A4 Technic with sports seats heated front and rear, hill hold, DAB and upgraded stereo and tailgate opening. The DAB was going to be £300 and the upgrade with DAB was only £600 so made sense to take it.
it will play the playlists in Napster but you need to start it manually and if you want to change to another artist or playlist you need to do it on the phone. It is certainly not as good as playing through the apple app.
The phone doesn't seem to play while connected to the cable but if I connect the phone then switch on Bluetooth it works!! Don't know how long it would work for though!

Thanks Scott. This is weird as DAB I thought comes standard on A4s now??!? Its certainly listed on the web site, so I wonder if you have a previous model than the current batch. Thanks for your help though.

I'm sure that Technic A4's have HDD sat nav (MMI). So does sound like you have streaming because you have MMI.

If you have paid for Dab, you must not have the latest Technic as a couple of months ago, all A4's started coming with Dab as standard and avants come with power tailgate as standard.
