Hi, my Sharan has developed a problem with "kangaroo juice" in first and second gear when starting off from stop, it happens all the time and I can only get through it by hitting the gas hard and often this makes the engine go into some sort of "lag" mode with no power, I noticed that if I stop the engine and restart it the "lag" mode hase gone but the jerky start is still there, has anyone else had this problem and do they know a remedy please.

Not 100% sure what it sounds like, but to me I think its one ofthe filters ie. diesel filter, or it could be the air intake for the turbo.

    hope it helps

Hi, thanks for the reply, I thought it may be the air flow meter or air filter and I have ordered a new filter to try but I will now check the diesel filter as well, thanks.

Chris 1st thing i would try is get vagcom on it , this will read any DTC,s ( faults ) stored in the ECU , which could save alot of guess work m8,

What area are you in , someone maybe be close to you with vagcom who is willing to help m8 ,

Or buy it yourself , can save alot of money in the long if you plan on looking after the car yourself , as I do.

Failing that try an independant garage with the abililty to read faults.

Its difficult to say over the net what the problem is m8 ,

My 1st thought is the maf, but get it read 1st m8 !!!

Hi cbrpaul, got a vag-com cable and run test on engine with following results:
    controller: 038 906 019 FC
    coding: 00002
    shop#: WSC 00020
    Vin Number Stuff
    1 fault found:
17965 - charge pressure control: positive deviation
    P1557 - 35-10 --- intermitent
