Hi all, although my GTD is still many weeks away, one of the first things I'll be doing when I get the car is to whip the wheels off to clean and seal them with wax.

with that in mind, and knowing that the MK7 has a different front wishbone assembly to the MK5/6 I.e. it doesn't have the "U" shaped rear bush bracket that used to be a good point to put axle stands, has anyone yet found the perfect spot front and rear to put the car on stands please ?

Most VWs have an indentation in the sill , front and rear both sides, to show the correct position of the jacking positions. Some times these indentations are not easily seen but can be felt with the finger tips.
The manual will make this clear.

Sorry, maybe I didn't make my point clear enough - apologies for that. I know where the jacking points are under the sill, my question was, when the car is up on a jack (be it the supplied jack or a trolley jack), where's the best place to put axle stands under the car (front and back) so that it can be released off the jacks for safety ?

Thanks for the links guys, but these are both based upon the older A3 chassis (same as the MK5 / MK6 Golf). The new Audi A3 (the 8V) is the one with the same chassis as the Golf 7 (MQB). The rears might actually be not a lot different, however the MQB's front wishbones have been completely redesigned, and the older ones lower arm trailing edge bush is different and it no longer has the large "U" shaped aluminium housing that was ideal to put axle stands on.
