I've looked at a few threads about this, on this forum and others and the suggestions appear to be, lever up the ashtray cover, after removing the two bolts but all that applying a bit of brute force seems to do, is bend the plastic attached to the lid.

Anybody actually done this particular exercise and care to advise as to how I should do this?

And yes, its money stuck in there....IMG_00000051.jpgIMG_00000052.jpg

In SG all it states after removing the screws is to use a flat blade screwdriver where the red line is in below image to lever up the ashtray ... then from what I can tell the ashtray frame/cover is out as a unit ...

You may need to remove the AC control unit as the SG steps go like this ...

    i) Remove AC control unit

ii) Remove trim below the AC control unit

    iii) Open ashtray remove insert

    iv) Remove housing/frame for ashtray

vi) Then it show ashtray frame & cover as a unit out from console and shows how to unclip ashtray cover

I was viewing the area today ... you have also seen the exploded views now ... IMO without removal of the trim below AC controls you will not be able to remove the whole ashtray system from the console ...

Spot on. I've followed your instructions, removed £2.20 in silver, one receipt from a car-park, one Costa Coffee card (requires stamping at Shell Fuel Stations) and one timetable, for the Hythe-Southampton Ferry. I now have a plastic box, wedged twixt ash-tray cover and console trim, trying to bend the plastic for the ash-tray lid back into shape.

    Hi,

I also have stuff that has fallen through behind the ash tray cover so looking at how to remove it. However, It appears there trim above the ash tray is getting in the way. Do I need to remove the AC unit to do this ? If so could you please provide instructions ?

    Thanks
