    Hi can anyone help I have a 2007 2.0 TDI when first starting all is ok but if I turn the engine off and try and start within 15 minutes there is a loud clunking noise from the engine and it don't start it takes 2 to 3 try's to start the car and it runs with no problem.
    can anyone help it turns heads when it happens not in a good way

    Any vibrations felt at Idle? Possibly DMF knocking. Bad starting maybe a weak signal from Crank Sensor due to Flywheel if it has excess play. If you can check for any fault codes that may be stored it would aid the diagnosis.

    Hi thanks for the reply it is ok when it is at idle just clunking on starting have not got equipment to see if any fault code is there will have to take it to audi to plug it in and see

    checked for any fault codes none was shown but not between 1000 and 2000 RPM there is a knocking/rattle comming from the engine bay somwhere over that all is ok took it to my local garage and they said the engine mounts had gone got them replaced 500 pound later still dose the same and ideas?

    Thats because it has a very good chance to be the DMF, as mentioned.

    Check the starter mounting bolts for tightness. This is the most common reason for clunking/grinding noise...
