I have an Audi A6 2001 with the Audi Symphony Bose Radio / Cd / Tape / CD Changer unit.

My problem is I need to disconnect the car battery to carry out some work on the car. My fear is that if I disconnect the battery once reconnected the radio will require the code which unfortunately I do not have as the previous owner removed the code card from the Radio manual and did not make a note of it anywhere.

My question is as follows: Is there any way to keep power to the radio maybe via another supply / battery etc which would then allow me to disconnect the main car battery?

Has anyone got any tips on how to do this? Maybe you have experience of this technique?

    Any advice would be appreciated?

If its the original radio, you won't need to input the code again.

Thanks A6_Chris, I had read this elsewhere and as far as I am aware it is the original unit. Is there any sort of time limit that the power can be removed from the radio? I guess the radio has a battery of it's own, is this how it retains the code?

I think the serial code is matched to the car.

if all goes wrong, audi will charge less than £10 to get the code.

By the way, I replaced my Concert in my A3 with a RNSE a few months ago and I needed a CD out of the Concert, so plugged it back in and it came on straight away so if it lasts months, a few minutes will be fine.

Just to update, when I removed the radio as A6_Chris suspected the code was not needed on re-installation. Makes a nice change for something to be simple with Audi's :-)
