Just wondered what, if any optional extras the original owner of my car specced from factory. I know he upgraded from MMI Basic to Basic Plus (woohoo!), but did he need to pay extra to get anything else? The only things I can think that could have possibly been optional extras are auto lights, auto wipers and active cruise control. Or were they standard?

Thanks Gup. So basically it says that satnav & a cd changer in the glove compartment is standard, so that wasn't actually an optional extra, they all came witb those. And cruise control was also standard (it doesn't say anything about 'active' cruise in the standard OR SLine/Le Mans trim, so I guess mine is the one that came as standard - I just thought it was 'active' as it adapts revs to compensate for hills & slopes.

So basically I have no optional extras at all, whatsoever lol. I wish I'd founx this forum before buying so I would have known what to look out for .

Ah well, it's still a bloody lovely car (world car of the year 2005 don't ya know, lol) and it's by far the best I've ever had. So I may be the poor relation among A6 owners, but I'm happy with it.

Your not the only one mate, I too have a bog standard SE.....at the moment as I also have a wish list as long as my arm! Think zenons, leather, H&R springs and bigger wheels will be the first things I'll save up for, and MMI upgrade when i finally get a new job. I didn't do any research at all before getting mine, it was just dumb luck that it happened to be an 07 that had a lot of the expensive jobs done before I got it, and was a good price.

Oh and I notice you have upgraded to Bose speakers, which ones have you got and do they sound much better. Was thinking of doing this, but our cars are 2 way up front with the subs in the doors, instead of 3 way and the subs elsewhere, so didn't think it would work?

I wouldn't mind getting some 18's or 19's, and if I start to earn some decent commission in my new job, it might just be affordable for me. As I'm still in the probation period though, and because my dmf & clutch need replacing, I'll be waiting a few more months yet. I also want to get the sport suspension. That's all I'll be doing though, the rest can wait til I trade it in for a facelift model with higher spec as standard. I wouldn't upgrade the MMI on this one, it's about a grand for the parts alone as far as I can make out.

The Bose speakers were in it when I bought it and I really rate them for bass & clarity. I've not really given it much thought & attention where the speakers are and the set up. Obviously I have the two bass speakers in the parcel shelf and what I assumed were mid-range in the doors. I've never noticed an amp either. God, the boy-racer Brycie of 20 years ago would be ashamed! I have a mate who owns his own ICE installation company though, and he's done some great work on a couple of A6's, so if I was wanting to get some upgrades done, it shouldn't be too expensive.

Standard cruise control is as above, all cruise control are like above...

I thought when you wrote active cruise control you meant "Adaptive Cruise Control", ACC is the one where there is a plate just below the number plate and bounces a signal off car in front of yours to judge distance and then adapts speed according even if cruise control is set to 70mph...

IIRC some 4F can also come with side assist.... on the latest cars I think all these features and others are part of "Presense"...

+1 mate, I wish I'd joined a forum before buying as most of my research was done reading reviews... what owners can share IMO is so much better...

The standard/ kit was meant to be part of my help me to help you thread but I can't get all the pictures needed so obviously that can't happen

The brochure Gup posted is a good place to start Paul, my car seems like a standard Le Mans with nav which is good enough for me

Mine is an avant so subs aren't in parcel shelf, pretty sure from something Gup posted that they are in the bottom of the doors with 2 way speakers, so as Bose are 3 way it shouldn't technically work, unless you have the Bose amp in the boot too? If not I'd be very interested on what setup you have.

I'm probably just being dumb but i couldn't find anything in there about audio. I know that Bose is 3 way anyway, what I want to know is where and what speakers are in my doors. You did link me to something just after I joined Gup, but I've forgotten what thread that was in and i can't seem to go back that far through the posts I've posted in from my profile. I'll have another look but if you can remember the link it would be cool if you could remind me
