    Hello,

Any hope of this (eventually)? I do like the SE model it does not have the ACT engine as an option.

In Germany the Comfortline model (=UK SE) is available with the 140 TSI in both ACT and non-ACT form so there is cause for hope but not for certainty. The ACT price premium is €550. The Manual ACT is quoted at 5.2l/100km and 109gm/km and the non-ACT at 4.7l/100km and 119gm/km.

The 140 non-ACT TSI has a price premium of €1000 over the 122 TSI as available in the UK SE which might give you a feel for where the UK price point could be.

Does indeed seem to be a VW UK restriction. SEAT and Skoda offer it at SE level in the Leon and Octavia. Technically this engine is the replacement for the 122PS 1.4 TSI so I find it strange they sell both

SEAT & Skoda are currently only offering the non-ACT 140 TSI in the UK, going by the CO2 figures they've published in the the stuff I've found.

That is correct but it is fundamentally the same engine, whereas the 122PS is an older unit.

I thought that both the 122Ps and 140PS were the same brand new EA211 generation engines but the 140PS has the modular ACT cylinder head?

The 122PS from the Golf VI is an EA111 series engine which appears to be incompatible with the MQB platorm which demands a rearward tilt and the exhaust on the side of the engine facing the bulkhead as provided by the EA211 series. In Germany you can choose your 1.4 TSI with 122PS or 140PS and the latter with or without ACT. Its all on the configurator screens.

I was under the impression the 122PS is still the old engine, it has higher emissions than the 140PS (without ACT) and the capacity is different at 1390cc as opposed to 1395cc.

If it is the old unit this will also mean its chain-driven as the new 1.4 TSI is belt driven.

Drilling down on the German VW site brings up 1395cc for both. There is a curious anomaly in the emissions inasmuch as CO2 is shown as identical when coupled with the DSG 'box but 1gm/km worse for the 122PS manual which downgrades it by one emissions class.

I have read press reviews which have categorically stated the 122PS in the Mk VII is not the Mk VI engine carried over but I cannot now recall the publications.

What about the 1.2 TSIs? Aren't they the old engines from the Mk6 but with stop/start etc?
    2002 Polo 9n 1.2 65PS. Basic but it's better than the train!
