All my previous/family members diesels are on normal diesel/supermarket...

So which countries diesel is best?

Seen so many people from different countries say their diesel is poor quality...
    Manufacturers must equate quality/tolerances,etc...

How do we know at the pump which is best diesel for our VAG?

With reference to the countries question... Europe will have a maximum sulphur content tolerence, of say 0-5%. Other continents have vastly different qualities of fuel. If you take a vehicle that is european built and run it, say, in Africa (for want of a better example!), technically, you should set the country region so the ECU can adjust, and it can also be used to work out service schedules (shortening) due to poorer fuel quality.

Venezuela (as it's the cheapest). A bit far to go for a tank of fuel though.

Saudi Arabia is next cheapest. I was there the other month, maybe next time I go I should bring some back in a few empty bottles lol

I'm in the Czech Republic at the moment and Shell have just launched a new diesel fuel called Shell V-Power Nitro+....bit of a mouthful, I know, but its supposed to have a new, more powerful detergent and corrosion-preventative additives. Will give it a go when I need to refill the car....pretty sure I'll not notice any difference though!

So is their diesel better than ours or a negligible difference?

Thanks for info ... its not the cost as such... but more to do with say quality/additives... when I read a post saying "bad fuel" does this really happen that much?

Cheers Neil ... I'm getting to the point were I feel the V-Powers,etc maybe not be as great as we would like to think... am I/others blowing £££ on a product which not really warrant it? lets say for instant with how I recently saw coking in my engine parts would running v-power,etc from day 1 when car rolled off production line really have made a difference? am I/others better off saving that 10p extra a litre towards servicing/parts?

Yes some additives make a difference bit what is the point where the amount of additives don't make a real difference?

Recently a person who only talks via PM/external email to me stated a product (IIRC a 2T oil) which they use as an additive with normal diesel as that person say premium fuels lack the lubricants for say diesel high pressure pumps/injectors,etc...

Apparently in Europe common practise among people in the know... apparently "Low sulphur Diesel" is not that good for diesel engines...

Again I know not the answers... but something bouncing in my head and thought why not ask ...

I always thought Germany would have the best, after all they brought the diesel engine away from the cement mixer

Reading up on another matter I found this post on another forum...

    Link:- VWVortex.com - Fuel delivery problem, immediate & total failure 3.0tdi “000135 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure P0087 - 012 - Too Low”

Looks like I may soon be adding 2T oil to my tank as well ...

Gups you've got to stop this mate! I understand doing work on your own car gives you immense pleasure as well as saves you money but going to another country to get fuel (unless it's wales and that's a trek) is taking things to far. I must warn you I do have the power under Sec136 of MHA to detain you
