    Hi all,
Could somebody maybe shead some light on my problem please?
I had a loss of power while pulling onto the motorway, the car would pull but with a serious lack of power. I could get up to 70mph but it took an age to get there and if there was any sort of incline the car would really struggle. There is no smoke coming from the exhaust.
Also before I had this problem I noticed a delay in the power dropping when I lifted off the accelerator, and even sometimes a small surge, like I still had my foot on the pedal for a second!
The car has done 180000 miles.
Is it worth a turbo cleaning kit? I am not mechanically competent enough to remove and clean myself.
    Thanks.

It sounds as though your turbo is coked up and the vanes are sticking. Using a vacuum puller on the turbo actuator may reveal the propblam. Find a local Vag Independant and get them to check it out. Regards Peter

I had this exact problem on my A6 1.9 Tdi, and cured it by replacing the MAF sensor, which I bought from Eurocarparts. A very easy fit, and cured the problem immediately.

I have had one mechanic say it was a MAF and another say the EGR would need cleaning. The problem seemed to disappear after i turned off and restart the engine and running around town with no issues. But as soon as I got on the motorway it lost power at 60mph. I have read so much about the EGR becoming clogged up that i thought it would be worth having a go at cleaning it. I removed it yesterday and it was full of muck. Cleaned it up and put it back on this morning, it seems to be running better but i have not had a chance to give it a good run on the motorway yet so fingers crossed as I have a nice little run from Liverpool to Durham to do on monday!

If the fault disappears when you stop and restart the car it's a boost problem. Can you get it scanned? Likely to either be the vanes or N75 valve

Is the N75 easy to change? Where is it located?

I'm not 100% sure but I think its at the front left of the engine . A small pipe runs from it to the turbo actuator. Look on the VCDS map on this site youre likely to be near a member that will scan your car. No point in randomly changing parts BTW Mr Muscle is 3yoyos pretty cheap fix

Looks like the nearest guy is in warrington, however I fear I may not even make it that far as I think my flywheel has now gone. Bad grinding/whining when trying to start up then it starts on the next turn of the key, but the has a knocking i can feel through the gear stick and clutch pedal. I think its time to get rid!

    I had the same happen 3 months ago (2001 awx pd 130 1.9tdi 174k).
Car went into limp mode on way onto motorway.
Scan with vcds lite revealed overboost and after switching ign off and on again problem
hasnt returned (yet) but for me it's turbo clean time, especially given the sooty state of the egr
and inlet manifold. It's easy and cheap and preferable to start with rather than replacing expensive stuff.

Davey--please read my posts regarding turbo problems.
I persevered with it and tried everything including 'Innotech' treatment.
Trust me bud- the only way to cure it- is to have your Turbo cleaned properly . Mr Muscle does bugger all--it just scratches the surface.

Please save yourself the hassle of deciding if it is safe to overtake . I dithered around for 3 years or more but eventually- I took the turbo to 'Turboforce' in Bamber Bridge, Preston .
They cleaned it for me and now the car runs great..
They dont however- take the turbo off for you-- you will have to get it off yourself. But- there is a good garage next door who will take it off and re-fit it for you . Ring Turbo Force and ask them.
Save yourself the hassle- and in no time- your car will drive like new .

ps- the clean only- costs about £100.
