    Hi all,

I have just changed my (treasured!) Passat for a Golf, fitted with extra option, 17" Seattle wheels (225/45 W 17)

They are great looking wheels, and holds the road very well, I guess, half worn Michelin primacy HPs all around.

I'm surprised however by the road noise, at around 70-75mph, really quite loud !

Even with the ICE on vol 12-15, can still hear road roar above it.

Any suggestions at all how to lower it - different tyre type etc, as with a 100 mile return commute, it's grating quite a bit already.

Anyone with the standard SE wheels (Atlanta), travelled in a Golf with 17" wheels, and noticed a marked difference ?!
    Any help totally appreciated, cheers.

Thats the thing with low profile and a wide tyre .. the road noise will never leave.

Dont think of changing the tyre size either as it could upset the rolling radius and could well indeed invalidate your insurance.

Cheers Chris, you've pretty much confirmed my line of thought, and indeed, no way would I change the spec of the tyre!

Reading reviews, the Primacy HP 3 is way ahead of the original HP in reviews, so I'll re-check the wear and may consider changing them - anything is worth a relaxing commute over a noisy one, I just didn't expect it from a VW (Had 2 focus's that were way quieter).

It'd be interesting to see how reduced it is in a Golf with the the standard 16" Atlanta wheels.

    Thanks again
