Really the car has been nothing short of perfect.

    List of incidents:

    • DPF warning light on (approx 60k miles). Dodgy sensor replaced by Audi roadside man.
    • One new wheel bearing needed (approx 80k miles)
    • Clutch is slightly noisy at the moment (release bearing?) - getting this looked at tomorrow

With these exceptions, everything works just the same as it did from new.

Interesting. I will hopefully buy my Fathers ex-company '09 B8 soon which had, last time I asked him, 140k on the clock. What's really interesting is that his has also had the clutch/dmf replaced (Audi goodwill resulted in a bill of only £250) around 100k and more recently a wheel bearing. It has Audi factory 18" 5 spoke alloys which I suspect contributed to the wheel bearing wearing out. He's not mentioned the DPF but then with an annual mileage of 45k, most motorway, I expect it has plenty opportunity to re-gen.

I'm on 135k, with a pair of front wheel bearings at 100k and clutch under warranty at about 20k.

Still going strong, looks and feels like new. I would quite happily run this for longer but its company fleet and new one is on order. Suspect I'll get to about 145k before it goes.

The DPF issue was only the sensor. I do mostly motorways miles as well, and once the sensor was replaced the reading showed the DPF was in fact empty. Regardless he had to do a full regen on the roadside (actually my work car park) just to "reset" the system and has been fine since.

It is likely the clutch noise is a flywheel issue, which is gearbox out to investigate. I have a good Audi specialist locally so will use them now the car is out of warranty.

I could live with the noise but would prefer to get it fixed, and as you can see the car hasn't exactly cost me much over the years.

I'm looking to replace it soon, I think I will get an A6, but will definately stick with Audi. Will probably keep the A4 for 3-6 months depending on the build time for a new car.

My previous car (Peugeot 307 SW) was pretty much dead after 80,000 miles everything started to go wrong, squeak, rattle, vibrate, fall off - you name it. The Audi has been 100% solid.

Just to counter that, I had a 205GTi and a 406 3.0 in the nineties that were still excellent at 80K+ although I did higher than average mileage back then. This B8 is the opposite and I have only done 40K so far, but with it's current track record, I can't see it getting to 100k! In fact, I almost threw the towel in last year with the DMF issue which was the final straw but Audi do provide decent post sales service, even if it needs the odd rocket up their backside.

So, coming back to your point, both Peugeot and Audi make "Friday afternoon specials"...and I am sure the other manufacturers do too. If you get a good one, great - if it's a Friday model, you are in big trouble.
