    Hi Guys,

How do I fix this? Vw have said cut out this connector then use heat shrink in line connector to re attach. One wire at a time. This photo is the connector under the seat.

    Thanks

    Scott.

VW is telling you to cut out the connector completely. Connect each wire where it is supposed to go by joining the wires, soldering them, and then sliding shrink tubing over each joint so that the joints do not short out to the frame or to one another. That is, fully insulate all the joints.

By the way, all this should be done with the battery disconnected so there is no risk of setting off the airbag.

The fault you show indicates that the Igniter resistance measured by the Airbag controller exceeded the maximum allowable spec - the Upper Limit. The fact that it is intermittent means that at the time of the scan, the problem did not exist - it was a stored fault. This would occur due to a bad connection in that connector VW has recommended you remove.

    How else can we help?

I had the same fault code on my Audi A4, I did the soldering thing, it turned out to be a faulty sensor in the door pillar. Got one on ebay. No problem since, disconnect the battery before attempting to change it. Best of luck

    Hi there,

Can you please help me to change that faulty sensor, I have the same fault code like you had and I'm fed up with this situation, I spent a lot of time & moneys ( more than 6 month and more than 100 pounds ) on a mechanic to reset the airbag faulty code, to clean the yellow airbag connector but that light it's coming out sometimes after a day, sometimes after a week or so.
Do you know any Thread or can you explain to me please where it's that sensor located and how I can change it?

Thank you and keep in touch,
    Colin

. Audi A4 2003 Sport...Time to replace 1 hr...The sensor is at the bottom of the door pillar (inside sill) I changed mine over from one side to the other and re-run Vagcom it shown the fault had was now on the opposite side so that told me it was a faulty sensor. You will have to remove all the trim from top to bottom it only clips on, its a pain at first but easier as you progress, use a wide bladed tool to ease the trim off. Unbolting the seat made it easier..Start with the top trim and work your way down...undo the bolt that holds the seat belt tensioner...the sensor is behind the tensioner and was in sponges that were soaking wet, needless to say I discarded them... . Make sure you get the exact replacement part as some are threaded and some bolt through

thats great cheers. i got a slightly diffrent fault code but same base code as follows
01217 - Side Airbag Igniter; Driver Side (N199)
    32-10 - Resistance too High - Intermittent

so im going to swap them over and re run tests, but ive got some other bits come up in the messuring blocks, but i feel i dont have half the sensors that say too high possibly why it dosnt throw a cel

    group:
    1. airbag driver side/pass side and belt tensioner driver and pass "correct"

    2.
tensioner rear driver and rear passenger side "correct"
but belt tensioner rear centre too high
    pyrotechnic igniter separating too high

    3. voltage supply correct
occupied seat pass side too high
belt inquiry front driver too high
belt inquiry front pass too high

    4 belt inquiry rear driver/rear pass/rear center "belt:no"

    5 n/sa

    6
seat occupation rear driver too high
    seat occupation rear pass correct
next two blocks dont note what they are, both say too high
    7
    head level airbag too high
head level pass airbag too high

So firstly, disconnect my battery? Am I then safe to remove sensor? I want to check part number to ensure I buy the correct one.

My question is, once sensor is removed, can I drive the car as normal? Im. Afraid of airbag deployment by accident! Lol
